From an overhead dolly shot (as the crew rush around just after they take the probe on board) in the original cut of WNMHGB the ceiling lights seem to be hidden behind grates.

Careful with that cordrazine, it’s tricky stuff.First batch of sickbay props done! The hypospray vials have variable liquid levels and color, and the "liquid" inside reacts to how the vials are positioned in the world, thanks to some programming magic I've been learning

This will of course be changed on a case-by-case basis, but each interactive item has a default name attached.
Finished up more sickbay props, including the Anabolic Protoplasers (3 different kinds), the Cardiostimulator, some trigger spray bottles (with variable liquid levels and color), a Shure microphone Heartbeat Reader/White Sound Device, some salt shakers scalpels, and some good old-fashioned bandage scissors

Regarding your Engineering video:
Do you plan to also render the matter-antimatter integrator control center where "Losira" killed Watkins?
No. For a variety of reasons, I chose to depict that area to starboard of the Engineering Foyer as it was seen in "Elaan of Troyius", as I prefer the small office alcove that opens up into the rest of Engineering rather than the small enclosed space you're referring to from "That Which Survives". Since both of those rooms inhabit the same space (in different episodes), I had to pick only one.

So I started on something new tonight....
So, my approach to this model will be to actually model and texture it as if it were the filming miniature, instead of trying to make it look like a real ship. In the end it will be scaled up, of course, but I think getting this to have that authentic look will rely on not trying to add a bunch of detail that wasn’t there on the original model.
Oh! And a question regarding grid lines: did the original filming miniature have grid lines on the saucer and engineering hull? Or were those added during the 92’ restoration? I’m hearing and seeing conflicting things, and hoping someone on this board with more insight can clear this up for me. Thanks!

Fascinating project! I'm looking forward to how this will turn out. As for the gridlines: according to the most recent and most extensively researched restoration done at the Smithsonian, the model does seem to sport gridlines on the saucer. The top of the saucer has remained as it was when last filmed in 1967--no restoration. There are fine pencil lines there that can clearly be seen in the Smithsonian video posted above.
I use a high-res photo of the restored filming model as one of my desktop backgrounds. One thing that fascinates me is the irregularities in the three seams carved into the primary hull's underside ... especially the middle seam. Will you attempt to model these?
