So she's from more the distant future before she was ntenced to Fort Roz in the past?

I knew Indigo was Brainiac 8 in the comics, but maybe not in the arrowverse, otherwise she would have been a lot more effective, and not so reliant on "bareskins and stone knives" to win out the day, nearly.

They're not very clear about the numbering system. It's possible that each generation of Coluans has a Brainiac 5 and a Brianiac 8.

Or maybe Brainiac-8/Indigo was a time traveler. Or maybe Brainiac-5 is just really, really old. Maybe he doesn't come back in time again, maybe his 21st-century self just shows up.

Of note from the link:

Though the details surrounding Winn’s future are being under wraps for now — they’ll be revealed over the course of Monday’s season finale (The CW, 8/7c) — Rovner and Queller assure us that his next steps will be true to his character, adding that he’s ultimately “fulfilling his full potential.”

Perhaps Brainiac's "the future needs heroes" line refers to Winn only "fulfilling his full potential" in the future, where he will feel he can make a difference he's failed to in his own century. Then again, he's not really a "hero" in the vein of SG or Mon-El, so Braniac's line might refer to someone else.

Jeremy Jordan was being underused on this show. Hopefully he'll find something that suits his talents better, like Broadway.

Jeremy loves the series, but he also loves - and misses - the Theater, and likely asked to be freed from his Series Regular contract in order to pursue opportunities in that sphere.

I hope they let Brainaic were his blue makeup all the time. There is no reason for him to look human unless he goes outside or even then because I thought people were suppose to be cool with aliens being part of society in this universe?

IMO season 3 has been all over the place.

One of this show's main problems is that people just suddenly turn up and become best friends (and more) with the protagonists extremely quickly. Last season it was the same with Lena and Meggie - this year it's Sam. 2 episodes or so into this season and she was Lena, Alex and Kara's best friend with little to no introduction. So, I'm sorry but I can't relate to all that angsting over a character who most likely will be gone at the end of the season/early next season anyway just as quickly as she popped up.

And speaking of Sam: Why has no one thought of using Ruby to help her? I mean she's her daughter which should mean she has some genetic markers that could be used to fashion a cure. Is she fully human? Otherwise, she's of absolutely no use and the typical TV-daughter who doesn't listen and gets in the way (and leads the baddies to her).

Rediscovering Agos and Alura... wasted 2 episodes. First of all why wouldn't Alura ask after Superman (who's mysteriously not even mentionned at all during this Kryptionian crisis)? Why doesn't Kara recognize her home-city - only to then recognize her father's lab and quite a few other details? And why would Alura greet Alex with such delight (thank you for taking in Kara who was in supergirl-mode - right in front of Lena) without thinking?

.
The easiest question first.

"Why would Alura greet Alex with such delight?

Because she knows that Kara loves Alex and she knows that Alex has given her "sister" more than love, she's given Kara excellent advice over the years, as indicated by the above scene. What Alura probably doesn't know is that Ruby, Sam and Lena are the only humans in the DEO that DON'T know Kara and Supergirl are one and the same.

Second easiest, as noted elsewhere, Alura and Kara discussed Kalel within the 1st ten seconds they met on Argo.

Third, why did she recognize her father's lab when she didn't recognize Argo? Because she wasn't expecting to see part of her home city floating about on an "asteroid" at the end of one episode, but three eps later she knew what this city was and most likely recognized where her mom was taking her. I suspect this is due to the same principle of not recognizing coworkers outside of work because they are in civilian clothes.

Fourth, If Ruby isn't going to be Sam's (biological) savior then she's just a git and not worth the screen time. Ruby is obviously Sam's savior, that's why Reign and then Selena kept talking about separating them or killing Ruby. Ruby's mere existence lights the fire of Sam's inner bada$$. We've heard that Superman will do anything and everything for the love of Lois Lane... well Sam has done and will continue to do that because of her love for Ruby.

Fifth... (its not the hardest question, but has the longest answer.) What about these characters that turn up and are besties within 1 or 2 eps.

I think we are watching different shows. This is actually one of the things I like the most about this show, the development of friendships.

Kara meets Lena with Clark Kent as chaperone in episode 1&2, then by herself in ep 3

In the course of the episode, Kara recognizes her own prejudices and works to get beyond them in the case of Lena Luthor.

I loved it in ep 4, when Kara burst into Lena's office (she was trying to save Alex) and Lena told her secretary to , in the future, show Kara in immediately "whenever possible" and Kara said "Really?"

Of course it was the 5th ep when Lena came to Kara's office to invite her to her gala. Later, in Kara's apartment when Lena found Alex she discovered not only "what a small world" National City truly was, but that she had 2 possible ways to reach out to Supergirl. That was a great ep that advanced their acquaintanceship. Mutual favors being exchanged, social and near death experiences being shared... and that doesn't even include the SG/LL scenes that helped advance the relationship for Kara if not for the unwitting Lena.

Episode 8 mostly showcases SG & LL, but Kara did set off the alarm bells for Lena when she presumes upon their budding relationship to pump her for info on Mommy Dearest. But that relationship is too new for honesty, so Kara doesn't tell Lena what she really wants and Lena doesn't tell Kara about her secret plan to defeat her mom.

By the 12th ep, Kara is showing up at Lena's office, donuts in hand, looking to support her in her hour of need "as a friend", rather than as a reporter looking for quotes to bolster CatCo's articles on the Lillian Luthor trial (or as an agent of the DEO looking for evidence).

By the end of the ep, Kara laughs at the flowers overflowing her office after her truthful / positive article detailing Lena's innocence in the Metallo/kryptonite/Cadmus incident and Lena realizes after Kara assures her she will always standup for her friend, that "Supergirl may have saved me, but Kara Danvers, YOU are my hero."

By the 15th ep, we learn that Lena and Kara's relationship has advance to purely social activities like checking out new restaurants together and that professionally Lena has no problem using L-corp assets to help Kara (and Supergirl) find and defeat Cadmus/her mom.

Fifteen eps in and we have yet to hit the emotional wringer that will occur 3 eps later when Lena' asks Kara to be her wingman. It seems her old boyfriend has come to town. Sadly while he tries to rekindle their relationship, he kills 2 whilst being under mind control and tries to subdue Lena and kill Supergirl before Lena kills him (with his permission). In that ep's finale, Lena tells Kara many truths and Kara refuses to run away.

By the 20th ep, we are again reminded that these two socialize when work doesn't get in their way and that they both have an unhealthy obsession with Justin Timberlake.

After being kidnapped by Rhea, Queen of Daxam at the end of 20 and being rescued by Supergirl (and Lillian Luthor) in 21, we see Lena warn Supergirl that the weapon she's developing to save the planet (in 22) will kill all Daxams, including Kara's boyfriend.

This professional relationship that evolved into an acquaintanceship and then a full friendship did not occur over 1 or 2 eps but rather the entire 2nd season. Alex and Maggie's relationship developed more quickly but had the benefit of raging hormones fueling it.

I get that many don't like this show and question why it doesn't explain every damned week why Superman isn't swooping in to save the day. Be that as it may, IMO the writers have done a pretty good job at showing how female friendships develop and should be commended more than condemned in this regard.

As always, YMMV.

Now, onto the finale and the discovery of which female friendships, much less which friends, will survive the day.

They say that chap was the only person who died (rather unnecessarily I might add) but I'm pretty sure we saw those girls lasering a few agents at the base. They can't all survived.

He really needs a haircut. He should have a buzzcut.
So is Brainiac 5 going to be Kara's next love interest? There is a precedent for it.

Naturally the real-world reason for Brainy's human disguise is to save time and money on the prosthetics, or else to make it more comfortable for the actor. (It's a more elaborate alien makeup than what Jesse Rath wore in Defiance. Maybe the electronics in the lighted headpiece are uncomfortable.) So they probably will keep using his disguise, regardless of the in-story logic.

Maybe he'll work at CatCo and not the DEO, thus making a requirement of maintaining the human disguise. :D

I kind of expect they may phase out CatCo as a setting altogether, what with James spending more time at the DEO and Eve Teschmacher suddenly turning out to be a nuclear physicist and becoming Lena's assistant overnight.

It’s funny after I started watching all these CW DC shows (and Gotham) I started recognizing characters (or their names) in older shows, like Justice League who I never gave a second thought because they’d either just be on TV for a few seconds (like Cat Grant) or have a very minor role.

I’m not a big superhero comic reader, so most of my knowledge comes from TV and the internet.

I bet you're thinking of Young Justice, since Cat Grant never appeared in Justice League or the DC Animated Universe. Superman: The Animated Series replaced her with the original character Angela Chen to add some diversity.

Yeah sorry, you’re right.

But there were also characters in JL which are now slipping my mind.

Buzz cut? That would be Vril Dox (Brainiac 2) Querl's hair is usually longer. From the generic 50's length to shoulder length.

Defiance. That’s what I recognised him from. His hair didn’t look as silly there
