Discovery Showrunners fired; Kurtzman takes over

...This is a joke right? He's coming off a hugely critically successful first season of American God's and is currently making the new adaptation of Anne Rice's The Vampire Diaries while a Hannibal return sits on the back burner.
Fuller's career is most likely going to have issues because in the last 2 years he has left or been fired from: Star Trek: Discovery, American Gods, Amazing Stories, and the Vampire Chronicles.

I didn't know he's off the vampire chronicles. Just yesterday he said he was working on a new project with Lee Pace - I was betting on him being in TVC but I guess it's a new project altogether.

My guess is the heavy "future is female" aspects of the series and extreme left politics will be toned down as well, with their departure. We might actually get some hetro male heroes on the series now., maybe hopefully Isaacs back as Prime Lorca. We'll see.
Now that's a silly assumption because everything that happens in Star Trek after Discovery does just that, including blatant acts of misogyny AND racism. For all the acts of forward thinking and inclusiveness that Discovery has, it's kind of a dark twist when you realize that things are about to get a whole lot worse.

The show can basically go a new direction at this point. My guess is the heavy "future is female" aspects of the series and extreme left politics will be toned down as well, with their departure. We might actually get some hot sweaty shirtless hetro male heroes on the series now, gyrating and thrusting their bodies to one another, sword-fighting, jousting, maybe hopefully Isaac's back as Prime Lorca. We'll see it.

Sure then. Continue to defend a series plagued with severe behind the scenes problems due to the showrunners. It's clear whatever they were doing wasn't working, and there are major production problems... most of which we probably don't even know the full extent of yet.

I will continue to find this whole thing fascinating and amusing. I'm confident the problems with STD will continue into S2.

I think most people just ignore those aspects, as they're a product of the time.

Lol. Your childish comments and weak attempts to make this personal against me just illustrate how insecure you are in your own opinions.

It's amusing.

Interesting leap here, claiming that anyone who doesn't think the problem with Discovery is that it stars a woman and not a hetero white male means they refuse to accept there are any problems with Discovery. It implies that the only problem you see with Discovery is that it doesn't star a hetero white male.

The second season's overall arc was likely already planned out before they started scripting it.

If there's a change in showrunner for the third season, I think the change most likely to occur would be what that season would focus on as a storyline not the overall make-up of the crew. Save for replacing whoever's killed off.

Kurtzman? Oh God. He was the director of that awful Mummy movie with Tom Cruise. This makes me sad.

Well if the internet is to go by I hear Kathleen Kennedy will be needing a new job soon! Who knows? Actually I am not looking forward to some of the more toxic complaining that is bound to happen but otherwise I am glad they might be bringing in a new person or person's to fix some of the problems with the show both fro ma creative angle and the behind the scenes asshole stuff.
Of course in sound logical thinking they choose to do this, 5 episodes in. Sure no tonal shift at all will be noticed after episode 5 and the second half of the season. Also no bottle shows because they blew to much of the money already. Any chance they might have the ole Berman era cave sets in storage?:)
My choice would be Cotto or Moore or someone mentioned Roxxan Dawson. Would be a interesting choice but doesn't that job usually go more towards people who have a history of being a writer instead of simply a director and actor? Another choice is Joss Whedon. I don't know what he is doing right now but he knows how to write strong female characters and do humor and drama and action and all that stuff.

Joss has his own #metoo issues (that were quickly overshadowed by other, more serious incidents with other producers) which may have been a part of his leaving Batgirl, may not be someone to bring in if mistreating staff is already a concern. I doubt he's cheap either for a show that's over budget. Plus, I love Whedon's writing, but only in Whedon projects. I find his style doesn't really mesh well in existing franchises. He is too distinctive and not all that good at blending in existing styles.

Maybe season 2 will be the last for Disco and they'll bring in Meyers miniseries next after all the issues of seasons one and two.

I don't want Disco to end, mind you, but I like the idea of a variety of short lived shows....

Edit: .Although suggesting Whedon brings David Greenwalt and Drew Goddard to mind or even Fuller's Wondefalls partner, Tim Minear, as potential season three showrunners....

Who was the showrunner on " Ash vs the Evil Dead?" I know Kurtzman has a connection to Tapert and Rami so maybe he knows the person who ran that show during either it's first or it's second season. I know they switched showrunner but don't recall the names or their resumes. Either way I think both need a job and since I loved that show it seems like a good fit maybe.

What's happening with STD is exactly the same thing that went on during TNG's first 2 seasons. They cycled through about 30 writers because of Maurice Hurley and Roddenberry's Lawyer. Turned out pretty well in the end though.

After all the unnecessary pre and during production off screen drama and what ultimately was shown as the first season, I can't say I'm sad to see them go even if those weren't the reasons for them being let go.

Because time doesn't exist in the Star Trek universe? I for one see no problem in having Star Trek characters call out the hypocrisy of how certain characters who have acted rather inappropriately despite their numerous occasions at how they declare themselves to be so enlightened. To 'ignore' such aspects is akin to saying that racism and sexism never existed at all.

Altering the content of someone's post is against the rules, as is using it to attempt to insult them, even if being implied to be gay shouldn't be considered an insult. That was clearly the intent of your alteration, though, that he would consider it an insult.

Infraction for trolling. Comments to PM.
