TLJ Actor Kelly Marie Tran (Rose Tico) Deletes Instagram After Abuse

I deleted my Facebook account out of sheer boredom. And created it in the first place for no real reason at all.

Yet somehow, setting Instagram to private in the face abuse is a major emotional overreaction?

And of course, when people complain about online abuse and keep their accounts, they’re called morons for not ‘stepping away from the computer.’

There’s truly no greater crime on the internet, than genuinely giving a shit.

The irony being, they’re typically the ones to start hurling around ‘kill urself’ in response to even the mildest and insignificant irritation.

And I swear to god. The first person to ride in with ‘well they don’t literally mean that,’ can go fuck themselves in an unsatisfying way.

Just the other day I reported a violent threat on FB to the police. It wasn't against me. This time.

EDIT: Fuck, it sort of was. Asshole was commenting on a news article about a pro-choice rally that I myself attended. He wrote: "We should have killed all of you back in 1991 when we had the chance... Actually, there's still time."

They're not going to do anything they're not either forced to do or need to do to keep their user base from drying up. If people stay plugged into their services, why, from their greedy-ass perspective, should they do anything more than the bare minimum to maintain the status quo while pocketing the rest? If people want Facebook et al to really change their behavior, they have to be willing to give them up, and go back to staying in touch the way it was before these services inserted themselves into the middle of families and socialization. But people are addicted now,* so....

* - or they've never known a world without them :eek:

I've reported more posts than I can count. Threats, hate speech, fascism, you name it. Those that aren't in English never get removed, you just get an automated response "we've reviewed..." Yeah, you reviewed my ass. Computer software checked the post for English keywords and didn't find any.
 
Maybe this will encourage more people in leaving Twitter. Without celebrities to follow wouldn't the whole place just implode on itself? Could someone tell me anything good or positve or even interesting that happens on twitter or Facebook?

I never said she should have to put up with it or that those animals should have sent disgusting messages but this is a culture on the internet that has been going on for a long time and it's not going to change anytime soon with the likes of facebook and twitter in charge. Quitting social media because of nameless assholes is going to make them think they got want they wanted and they'll move onto their next victim. When people have the anonymity of the internet to coward behind they should be ignored because these assholes don't have the guts to say it in real life.

That’s easy for you to say, others aren’t as lucky as you to be able to stick around and I highly doubt you’ve come close to the level of attention and abuse she gets.

So the noble and right thing to do is stoically and endlessly endure the abuse, harassment, and racist comments.
That's a healthy way to live.

@EnsignRicky - Chuckle. I am curious as to where I can see the wreckage of the Star Wars franchise. Is there a virtual tour available?
No, I am not talking about the disappointing box office receipts of Solo, or the endless subjective complaints to be found on YouTube, I am talking about objective evidence that the Star Wars franchise has been destroyed. It's time to put up or shut up.
