TLJ Actor Kelly Marie Tran (Rose Tico) Deletes Instagram After Abuse

I have a lot to say on this subject, but please, let's not do this here.

If that's in regards to my comment, I don't have too much more to say. It was just a silly joke.
My grandfathers would probably have a thing or two but they're long gone.
Obviously the war had different effects on different people around the world and if my remark seemed callous or insensitive, I wholeheartedly apologize in advance.

Just on the topic in general

Harassing actors/actresses/producers goes far beyond simple dislike of a film or character, and anyone who has any true appreciation for the Star Wars franchise ought to know the difference and be willing to speak up and not allow troglodyte Trolls to pollute the overall image of the SW fan community with their repulsiveness.

The Ewoks vs the Empire is very reminiscent of the Vietnam War. IIRC, Lucas mentioned that parallel in an interview somewhere.
I think he first mentioned it in one of the old PBS specials, From Star Wars to Jedi IIRC. I think it came up in that History Channel special from a few years ago too, the one that explored the mythical and historical inspirations of the series.

Grace Randolph is the Roseanne Barr of YouTube critics. :barf2:

No video for ‘Was Grace Randolph right about Disney paying off critics to bash in Fan4stic and Pixels?’

Or ‘Yes, They Really Should Make Deadpool PG-13’?

How odd...

(So says the person who is kinda fond of Fan4stic in a really weird way. It’s not good. At all. But there’s just so much to unpack and talk about there.)

There is an interesting movie buried in it.

Maybe I’m just done with fandom, especially if it’s going to devolve into nothing but a bunch of toxic assholes spewing terror at the very people who make what they claim to love because it didn’t fit into their preconceived idea of what it should be and they weren’t able to handle it like an adult.

Sadly some people are just too unhinged/obsessed to understand that.

"No! No! Rey NEEDED to be Luke's daughter! I can't accept anything else"

I feel sorry for family members that have to live with people like that. A part of it could be mental issues too.

I don't know why we are talking about animal right here but... race horses exist in real life. Is freeing them and letting them run around the country side the right thing to do?
I'd just like to point out that there are rules about how to treat race horses and other animals used in entertainment, and the way the fathiers are treated in TLJ is against those rules. Most of the animals that are found being treated like that are taken to places where they more or less are able "run around the countryside". I will admit, they usually aren't totally in the wild, but as long as the fathiers know how to survive on their own, then I would say they did the right thing.

I really love Star Wars, but some of these people are nuts. I wouldn’t even want to be around them for my own safety.

An excellent article about the fandom.

Can we all be honest and admit that these aren't just fans, this is just men. Men angry that their toy has to be shared with women and minorities now.

They are most likely men but I really am not sold on most of them being fans. I just see it as people having a chance to be mean because of politics. People think SW has a SJW agenda so even though they can't tell the difference between a Banta and Rancor all of sudden you become a "fan" and use a fan excuse to be hostile. I think the issue goes way beyond Star Wars and has more to do with Trump and Obama and HIliary Clinton and every time they have been called out or insulted on the internet.

I think they call themselves fans, even though they’re trying to destroy it in order to keep it from others. It’s tied to political stuff, but the root cause is selfishness and a lack of empathy. Men, especially white men, have been catered to forever. There were a few token minorities, but they only existed to help the white man in charge. Now things have changed because we’re finally acknowledging that others exist and some men just can’t handle that. They want 100% of what they were given for so long and not the 80-90% they get now. These are whiny, immature babies who want their way or no way and will terrorize, harass and in some cases even kill to get their way. This is beyond movies, politics or anything. This is a problem with society itself and I fear it’s going to get a lot worse before it gets better.

Agreed. People think Rey was created to cater to the growing number of women finally speaking up

"Oh boo. If this was 20 years ago we wouldn't be hearing all this and Rey would be a man"

"Dammit they're ruining my franchise! Get out!"

It's like Starbuck from BSG being turned into a woman

Ahem... NOT EVERYTHING NEEDS TO BE CONNECTED!!!!!

Which goes back to people expecting what they dreamed about and getting thrown a curve ball to be fresh and different.

People didn't get what they wanted so they vented.
