Spoilers Legion season 2

I'm getting tired of this show. The first season was intriguing, but now it's just being weird and dark for the sake of weirdness and darkness, and it's hard to see any greater point to it. It's hard to care about anything that happens in this show when it's impossible to tell what's objectively real and what's just someone's illusion or mind game.

I'm also really sick of shows perpetuating the myth that torture has anything to do with extracting information. Sure, it portrayed David's use of torture as a bad thing, and one that didn't really get results, but too many fictional characters still assume that the way to get information out of someone is to torture them, and that's an ugly and discredited myth that writers need to stop falling back on.

The most insidious lies have truth in them.

That said, I noticed the problem with David's enjoyment of using his powers against people last season. I don't think they really made an effort to hide it.

I like how they've circled back to The World's Angriest Boy in the World and covered David taking pleasure in all the ways he could kill Farouk. But a couple of things: David was worried about that himself, which shows he still has a sense of right and wrong, and Syd should know not to trust a situation in which she is hooked down a drain with rabbit bait.
Yeah, I was disappointed in Syd believing what Melanie was telling her considering her circumstances...unless she was playing dumb and knew Farouk had control over her?

The hammerspace case holding Lenny's gun was hilarious.
Ah, right hammerspace. I just think of it as another TARDIS. :D

One thing that caught my attention when Syd was delivering messages to David from the future is that she looked over her shoulder at least twice and seemed to be keeping quiet as if to hide from somebody. Who was that somebody, David or Farouk, or somebody else?

Perhaps. I'm still not 100% convinced Future Syd is reliable.

What was up with the giant bathtub plug? That was just weird.
Normally I would chalk it up with the show's inclination for weird imagery, but I wondered if this was a case of making the viewer think one thing (use the drain plug for it's tradition form, i.e. keep something out) when it's used for something else (like keeping something in, such as Farouk's body or CorporalCaptain's neat idea). Or maybe a cigar is just a cigar and the show is just being absurd again.

So was Farouk in Oliver at all there? I guess David was just torturing poor Oliver that whole time.

Obviously, the reason Le Desole is a desert is because someone pulled out the plug and drained all the water. :D
Damn, ya beat me to it...

Maybe that's why it was such a good hiding spot, it was underwater until then.

Maybe it's a reference to Desmond pulling the cork out in the series finale of Lost.
I did think of that.

Hmm. Can you enlighten those of us who've never seen Lost?
Not without spoiling the whole damn show! (It's a major plot point for the final season)

From what I could tell, Farouk had already left Oliver but tweaked his mind to prevent him from telling David the truth (not unlike what Bester did to Garibaldi).

Don't care about spoilers for Lost. So, I Googled lost wiki cork. I take it that this is what you're talking about:

I was thinking "Wow, imagine if they didn't get renewed and it ended right there" but I suppose the same thing could've been said last year. Makes you wonder what prompted the extra episode this season. However, unlike last season, I don't feel that all the pieces came together cleanly at the end here though as usual I'm still processing this last episode.

Interesting(?) CC tidbit: according to the captions David's main head clone is Divad (the one who has an American accent) and the other is Dvd.
