TLJ Actor Kelly Marie Tran (Rose Tico) Deletes Instagram After Abuse

Awww, look at how those poor space horses are treated.

Hey, lets steal one, force it to dive through plate glass, dodge blaster fire, avoid oncoming speeders, take out a few store fronts and then abandon it in the wild to try to find it's own way home without getting killed.

They make a point that this is a living creature and then proceed to treat it like the Bluesmobile.

This is supposed to be a living creature not the Bluesmobile.
It found its herd, as I recall.

Because never before in the history of the world, has anyone made a grand escape from the armed popo whilst on horseback.

Besides, they didn’t ‘steal one.’ They released the lot, and caused a stampede. Which apparently worked. Coz at the end? Our heroes did escape, and there’s no more space horses in the space stables.

(It was also hinted those ‘horses’ were bloody sapient. The one Finn and Ross ‘stole,’ didn’t want to leave them until it was told that it was fine.)

Also: ‘There’s no perfect solution! So even trying is dumb.’

No, because female and minority fans also will post a similar type of abuse at those involved in producing a film they don't like as well. It's not just a 'male issue' here. Do you really think the hate Jake Loyd received for his role in TPM ONLY came from White men?

This is not an issue that suddenly sprang up with regard to a small segment of the fanbase -m it's ALWAYS been there. Again, Social Media (and the anonymity and broad outreach it provides) just make it easier for these idiots to spout off.
Actually yes. It’s nearly all men. I don’t care if you find a handful of women to claim as “proof”.

They didn't steal it?
Oh, okay. Go down to the local stables some day and try "freeing the horses"; Be sure to let us know how that turned out.

I've already explained many of the reasons this movie sucks in other threads and I know I've already addressed her. it's exhausting to have to keep explaining it in every new topic. She only existed to give Finn something to do. Her social justice dialogue was painful. her parts of the movie were among the most pointless and boring, and when she was finished destroying any chance Finn had to be a hero, Johnson runs out of steam and puts her in the fridge.

None of my criticism has anything to do with her being Asian or a woman, but if it makes it easier keep telling yourselves that. I know I'm not a racist, and I really can't even begin to understand why anybody would hate or resent women, especially in this day and age. But say what you want; I can dismiss things too.

The problem is none of these criticisms are vaguely valid, they're just justifications and not even good ones frankly. I didn't find her boring and she didn't exist to "give Finn something to do", she was an entertaining character in her own right.

Frankly though none of this really matters one jot does it? The thread is about the bullying and abuse an actress got online, and all you are doing here by making the (weak) case against her character in the film is.....what? Does it somehow make the bullying ok? Is there a certain threshold at which a performance is so unlikable targetting the performer in their own home becomes acceptable, a fair consequence for the crime of making a film you don't like?

If not, why sidetrack the thread into discussing the performance at all? What possible relevance can your perspective on that performance have to the subject hve unless it somehow has bearing on the behaviour being discussed?

The only way bringing it up at all makes any sense is if you believe it excuses online abuse threats, harassment and stalking.

Yeah, let's not talk about how wrong it is harass Tran, but instead let's talk about how much TLJ suuuuucks....

Sarcasm.

Seriously, yes, I asked for clarification on his opinion of the character in an effort to gain insight into his thought processes, regarding something that he himself had brought up, nothing more. The issue is Tran and the unjust way in which so-called fans have treated her.

So, let's get back on topic then...

I saw the stories about this yesterday, and it just disgusts me. You don't like the movie, fine, there is no reason to actually go so far as the attack the people involved.
It really amazes me at times how many horrible people there are out there.

Chuckle. The Star Wars galaxy is still working on treating sentient beings properly (you know not enslaving them, not using them for cannon fodder, etc.) I think it will be a few series until they get to the animal rights bit.

In addition, the animals ultimately would be better off AND safer not being tased on the regular, branded, abused, etc - even if they had to endure a little pain and confusion to get to their ultimate goal - freedom.

Fortunately Pom Klementieff isn't being subjected to similarly heartless, racist and misogynistic behavior, even though they both share essentially the same fan base.
It could have something to do with her character not totally sucking; But that's just speculation and is in no way an excuse for such misdirected cruelty..

1) Pom's character was well-liked in well-liked films.

2) Pom Klementieff is gorgeous, drop-dead very beautiful. I'm skeptical this issue really came down to race. We've had many Asian actresses and actors who have been loved by their respective fanbases in genre tentpoles and TV shows before.

I don't know why we are talking about animal right here but... race horses exist in real life. Is freeing them and letting them run around the country side the right thing to do? Should we all be freeing the cows about to be led to slaughter? The casino planet's morality was a bit simplistic, and overly on the nose social commentary.

And none of that has anything to do with harassing anybody. That's clearly and indisputably not ok.

I can't believe that this even needs to be said, but not finding someone attractive isn't a valid reason to harass them, no matter what film they've acted in.
