Where does the core saga go after Episode 9?

Oh look, Leia is alive again and pulling herself to the ship after daddy blew up the vessel she was in!

Daddy???

Kylo's wingman is Darth Vader?

Literally this time???

mind=blown

Honestly, for me the "core saga" ended with ROTJ and the Disney sequels are more or less apocryphal.

I only recently saw The Force Awakens and I was surprised by how much I enjoyed it. That being said, I'm inclined to agree with you.

No, it's not.

Things don't just cease to exist because someone refuses to acknowledge their existence.
You haven't been a Science Fiction fan very long then, have you? ;) It happens in EVERY franchise eventually (Star Wars, Star Trek, etc.) where fans start to excise and ignore what they don't like. Yes, the films/episodes don't cease to exist, but certain fandom segments decide to ignore them: case in point for the majority of Star Wars fandom - "The Star Wars Holiday Special".

Oh it exists:

I don't care, if I must be honest. And perhaps Disney should stick to stand alone films. The studio seems incapable of creating a Star Wars film series with a coherent narrative.

I never felt lost. Neither did my wife and she's more of a casual viewer than a fan.

Honestly? The only place my wife felt lost was going from TFA to Rogue One. She was so enamored with the ST characters, she didn't get why we had to go back to tell this story.

I thought Rogue One was entertaining, but unneeded. Oh well - Solo was a BLAST. Loved it.

Rian Johnson apparently is doing a new trilogy.

I think the best bet would to be an Old Republic movie; similar to KOTOR, set 4,000 years before the republic. They literally have no storytelling constraints, with the old EU no longer in play. A reboot of Revan, something completely original, doesn’t matter: they have complete freedom in this era, from the smallest details (costume design, character templates) to the biggest (they could literally burn down the whole republic if they wanted)
A film about the ancient Sith might be well worth doing. There are plenty of characters from the previous 25,000 years who could be interesting. Or why not a film about the Yuuzhan Vong ? That would have the (possible) advantage of being set shortly ABY, but the galaxy is quite big enough to accommodate it. There must be one or two novels or fan fics that would be worth filming,

The idea of a KOTOR film is very attractive.

I'd say most moviegoers disagree with you. Considering, the four films they've done, have done four billion dollars in business.

So what?

Why do so many people feel that box office performance is a sign of good writing? I don't. I don't care how much money "The Force Awakens" and "The Last Jedi" made. I was not impressed by the writing for both films. Frankly, I was more impressed by "Rogue One" and "Solo", which were both stand alone films. Neither was perfect. Then again, I have yet to see a perfect movie, let alone a perfect Star Wars movie. But I still believe that the two stand alone films were better than the two Sequel Trilogy movies. I feel that the current Lucasfilm seemed to be better at creating stand alone films for the franchise, than serial ones.

I'm not saying that Lucasfilm should only do stand alone movies. But I do believe that Lucasfilm needs to get its act together in writing better serial movies.

We've seen it all before. In 1999. And the next morning in 1999, we pondered how questionable the next one in 2002 might be because it was a dreary episode. In 2002, the next day after seeing Ep2, we pondered how much more awful the next one in 2005 might be. In 2005, next day arrives having managed to survive ep3, we're glad it's over with . . .

We? Who is "we"?
