Just came back from it. It was pretty good. No real surprises except for of course, Darth Maul. That’s going to confuse people who’ve only seen the movies. :)
It was nice to see Kessel and the mining operations. No spiders though which is a shame. I’m sure that’ll help people who read Crucible or Jedi Academy image it better.

Didn’t really leave a lot for a sequel. I suppose they could do something with Kira and Maul. This potential Obi Wan Movie would be good for that if that stupid Rebels show didn’t mess everything up.

Just saw it as well. Strong acting from the entire cast. Good summer popcorn flick. Not winning any non-technical awards but a great flick. Kid did a great job as Han. Didn’t do a Harrison Ford impression, but definitely felt like Han Solo. At times could even imagine Ford saying the lines. Donald Glover really stuck Lando as well.

That “stupid” show has been better than most the recent movies in the writing dept IMHO.

    Just wasn’t a fan.
I suppose the Obi Wan Movie could be him destroying Maul’s empire. That gives enough explanation as to why Maul would start to look for him again.

Not to get off topic, but will Rebels be dropped alá Clone Wars on Netflix? I never have watched it as I have no cable and would like to give it a shot

It's all been pretty much covered in CW and Rebels as far as his motivation...…...kinda holding a grudge about that whole choppin' him in half thing.

Maybe? Disney is getting their own streaming service so it might end up there.

I’d rather Obi-Wan not leave Tatooine. He needs to look over Luke.

Anyways Maul didn’t even know Obi-Wan was still alive until the events in Rebels

    Just retcon all that. :)
I’m sure they can have him leave the planet for a short while. Get someone else to watch the kid (even when he doesn’t need it) for a while.
Back to the movie, I think it’s safe to say this is the most EU friendly out of all of them so far. Sure things are different, but not radically so.
I was hoping to see more of the Coriellian system as that was always a interesting one in the books; with multiple class M planets each having their own alien race and culture. Not to mention the mysterious Centerpoint Station.

There was an EU novel called Kenobi, which covered part of his Exile on Tatooine, and it was really good.

    No thanks.

Lmao not even 10 posts in and we’re off topic. My fault sorry

I was joking. I just thought the character of Maul was wasted on Rebels. I wouldn’t care much if they chose to ignore that.
Never read the Kenobi novel and I’m sure it’s good, but I hope they have him leave the planet for the movie.

Did anyone catch the name of that snow planet they did the train heist on? Also the planet they meet Lando?

I think bringing Maul back in any way, shape or form was a waste. But here we are.

Anyway, this is the first Star Wars movie of the Disney era I'm not rushing to go see opening night. Just not in a huge hurry on this one. It looks fun, but that's about it. My wife and I have tickets for Sunday afternoon.

Enjoyed the film, I like the seedy underbelly of Star Wars, and hope there are more Solo movies...of course the big and obvious one being Jabba Desilijic Tiure.

Maul was a nice surprise, and a nod to those fans that have been following the Clone Wars, and Rebels. It might be a little too confusing for some, I had to explain it to a friend after the movie, all I got in response was a "Huh..."

But Maul was a great villain in TPM, was a shame to see him wasted after one movie. He should have been a villain through all the prequels. Bringing him back was just so awesome for me. Animation is one thing, but bringing him back to live action is a whole other thing.

Seeing the Falcon clean and serene was pretty cool. Was good to see the ship cleaned up for a change. Makes since that Lando would want his rides pimped out a bit, after all he did have a SoroSuub Luxury Yacht in legends.

Good film, was a fun ride. Will be interesting to see where things go from here. Maul coming back in another movie seems a no brainer, can't just unveil the guy and not follow up on it... prior to Rebels I mean.

He might still. He has a ship named Lady Luck in a recent novel, but it doesn't say what kind of ship it .

The new Han Solo is kinda short.

Solo was in the Imperial Army. Since Imperial Stormtroopers are usually found on ships, does that make them the Marine Corps then.

BTW the Solo scenes in the Imperial Army reminded me of Warhammer 40K's Imperial Guard.

BTW is the freckled red hair girl related to any characters from the clone war or rebels ? I think her name was Nest.
