Saw this last night. Wow. What a stunning movie. The action sequences and score in this film are absolutely top drawer. It almost felt like a Christopher Nolan film at times. Probably the best in the series for me.

Is Cavil’s scarring at the end something from the TV series? Was one of the villains there have something similar?

Loved the movie. The action sequences were of course absolutely top notch. I thought the humor was well done as well.

I really liked the scene with the fake Wolf Blitzer. That was straight out of the classic TV show. It was predicable that Henry Cavill was a villain but the reveal was well executed. And the scene where Cavill's character discovers that Hunt switched Solomon Lane's was very satisfying. My only nitpick is that there was a lot of exposition in the beginning and I don't feel like I really followed all of it. I kinda got lost with who was supposed to be who when they introduced the white widow character. It took me a bit to figure it out.

Going to see this when it opens at the end of the week. Am excited as these are really about the only Tom Cruise movies I really like.

Ethan went into a lot of errors trying to save him when skydiving. Doesn’t he know that he can fly?

This was was pretty good BUT... I actually think I still like Rogue Nation better. My expectations were pretty high given all the great reviews this has been getting, but I wasn't blown away by it.

I'm actually a newcomer to the series, having watched the previous films for the first time within the last few weeks, so this was my first in-theater Mission Impossible film. I think I'd rank them, from best to worst:

    Rogue Nation
    Fallout
    3
    1
    Ghost Protocol
    2

Not a fan of 2? That one has the best score of the lot.

I just saw Fallout this afternoon and loved it. My friend Jenny and her husband also came along. Jenny said she thought it was the best of the series. I'm not so sure, I think Ghost Protocol may be better. Still, these movies have been solid since GP. My favorite critic, Steven D. Greydanus of Decent Films, says he can't think of any other instance where the second trilogy of a series surpassed its first trilogy.

Towards the end of the film there's a line of dialog that should put a smile on any Star Trek fan's face.
Julia says to Luther, while they're trying to defuse a bomb: "I'm a doctor, not an electrician."

The fakeout and flipflops required you to invest more in the story this time. It's more complicated than "Rogue Nation"

Everyone should see this on the big screen at least once

The helicopter chase was like watching a documentary. I mean that in a good way. It was so immersive. All that lush scenery was breathtaking.

The camera's attached to outside were brilliant

I wonder where the truck part could have fit in.

This movie got into Hunt's head alot with the dream sequences and the fakeouts

I can't wait to get the blu-ray so I can watch the entire Paris sequence

I think "Ghost Protocol" is still the best of the bunch. I certainly enjoyed "Fallout" more than "Rogue Nation", the 2nd and 3rd films. I can't decide whether I like the 1996 or "Fallout" more.

I have two problems with "Fallout". One . . . I'm getting tired of Solomon Lane. And I fear that his character or organization will be used for one more film. And I'm rather confused with Vanessa Kirby's character. It seemed a bit murky. Otherwise, I enjoyed the movie.

The Syndicate were the big bad in the tv series so it’s understandable they would give it more than one movie. I doubt the next one will be about them.

I'm genuinely surprised so many people rank Ghost Protocol so highly. I mean it's not bad, I just found it so... forgettable. Another issue I had with it is that the Mission Impossible films walk a fine line between serious and humorous, and I feel like it skewed a little too much towards the latter (whereas 2 went too far in the serious direction, though it had plenty of unintentional cheesiness ;)). I mean, we're not quite talking Roger Moore-era goofiness here, but still. The villain was bland and uninteresting, most of the setpieces didn't really stand out, and Ving Rhames was relegated to a measly cameo. I dunno, just didn't do much for me.

Yeah, the villain was very forgettable. I don’t even recall who it was now.

He didn't really have a lot of screen time IIRC. i remember that he was played by Michael Nyqvist who sadly passed away last year.

    My ranking right now is

    Rogue Nation
    Fallout
    III
    Ghost Protocol
    II
    !
