That's right. That's why I picked Close Encounters. It's not an action film. It's the other thing.

No, I just said it had a fair amount of action in it. I wasn't trying to label it, just to add more information about what someone watching it for the first time would have to expect. It may not be an "action movie" in the sense I subsequently defined, but it's not a sedate drama either.
Yeah... part romance, part thriller. (A romance in real life too, since Malcolm McDowell and Mary Steenburgen fell in love along with their characters, and got married afterward. It's cool to watch their scenes knowing that.)

Nicholas Meyer seems to have a thing for movies about time travelers in 20th-century San Francisco.
Who go to pawnshops to obtain the local currency. And pick up local women along the way.
