Breakfast Foods and Coffee Thread

Naah, everything strawberryish goes best with tea! I just discovered this phantastic "China Milky Oolong" at my local teashop: the tea leaves get only slightly wilted over steam and then are rolled in milk and dried. A pity I can't post scent - you open the box and a cloud of cream and tea scent envelopes you. :adore: The taste is amazing, too. Being only half fermented, this tea is somewhere between a classical Chinese green and an Assam but has the almost flower-like note of a Darjeeling. It's not so heavy on the caffeine either so that you can have it for a nightcup without staying awake till dawn.
With a sprinkle of sugar and a dollop of whole milk this is the perfect drink to accompany perfectly ripe strawberries, fresh from the plant. And I should think it'd underline the fruitiness of Pondwater's strawberry pop tarts nicely.
LOL you can tell I'm in love, can't you? :D

My breakfast of choice: egg and cheese on croissant. My breakfast literally six days a week, takes me only like 2 minutes to make and ohhhh so delicious.
I just ate that very thing for breakfast this morning... and damn it's tasty. I only eat those like once every 2 weeks though since I'm trying to be healthier (and esp after the events in my life last week I do not want any lifestyle factors killing me too early!).

Oh my breakfast is where I treat myself everyday, you've got to have some enjoyment? :) I usually just have like a light salad for lunch, and something small and simple for my dinner, but oh I so much MUST have my breakfast, lol. I do feel I can be happy and still enjoy what I like, I've just got to make decisions on what's most important to me.

Oh, most certainly, Mary. I didn't mean to imply that I thought you were being unhealthy... not at all. We all need enjoyment in our lives one way or another. For example: I might eat oatmeal 4 days out of the week for breakfast, but I also drank a glass of 90 proof whiskey yesterday afternoon. It all evens out somehow... :p

Oh no worries, I didn't feel at all like you were accusing me, lol! Oh I just so understood what you said about wanting to make healthy decisions, for me breakfast is my time I decide "This is for me, I'll do whatever I want" and not feel guilty about it. I just feel so much that helps me make better decisions elsewhere in my life, when I know I've got something for comfort that I won't worry about?

I used to breakfast only in the weekends but since I was diagnosed with diabetes I must eat something in the morning else the pills I have to take cause a mean stomach ache. I still find it very difficult to have breakfast when I must drive out in the country, but at least I manage to have breakfast at my office.
15 years ago, a group of students in a nearby town started a muesli factory. You can pick your favourite ingredients from a gazillion of choices and this way build your very own mix which then gets sent to you by mail.
So, when at my office, I usually have my very special healthy muesli for breakfast now. =)

Doing a mini - derail here. Just it IS food related and it's what I'm going to make for dinner. Pure genius when two great ideas come together in what should a marriage of food. Not made it before but it's macaroni cheese lasagne. You know it's going to work  Macaroni cheese on the bottom, meat sauce and macaroni cheese on top. (For some reason it brings to mind another combination that is seriously evil. You take a sausage roll (sausage already wrapped in pastry) and you put it in a hot dog bread roll. Sauce it up, add cheese and onions and pray you don't die of a heart attack :p).

Did someone say cheesecake? Okay cheesecake is at its best if it is the 'refrigerator' type. Slightly malty biscuit base but not too buttery thick. Lemon with cream.

Boring. Vanilla is my favourite ice cream flavour too.

Oh, no... let's not make this thread about cheesecake! I haven't made one in ages, I'm way overdue... I think I have all the ingredients...

No!! I don't think my waistline can handle it right now... must resist!!! :D
