How do you rate "Avengers: Infinity War"?

Spoilers, obviously...

Wow. Just wow Not entirely without issues, but as far as being payoff for all that it's come before, Infinity War did not disappoint.

There's still a lot I need to process, I wasn't sure if I believed that they would actually go there (*snap*). One thing I want to mention was that at first I thought that Doctor Strange gave up the Time Stone a little too easily. But then I thought about what he said after scanning possible timelines that there was only one way to win, and I think that this is what Strange saw. Strange sacrificed himself and his Stone in order to set the remaining Avengers on the only path to defeating Thanos.

Given the hype and my expectations, this film could only disappoint, right?

Er, wrong, apparently. Absolutely loved it, every single second. Just the culmination of what the MCU has been building to. Too many emotional, funny, shocking and exciting moments to begin listing here. Demands a rewatch.

A+ from me.

Damn good flick. Will need to see the next one before I can grade it though.

Did it look to anyone else like they partially overlayed the young Gamora's face with Zoe Saldana's? Was freakishly spot on casting otherwise, especially in that last scene.

The new Thanos model looks better in the final film than most of the promotions. They must have been working on him up to the last minute. I miss the glowing eyes and the more traditional armor though. It also bugged me that they turned the modulation on his voice way down and that even in the flash back they replaced his armor with the new duds. An odd choice for a studio that usually has such attention to detail. Groots arm also grew back a lot faster than we'd seen that happen before (those teenage groot hormones I guess?).

Why are Wakandans still fighting on foot with spears? I don't care how well trained you are, get your goddamn stealth fighters and energy weapons out of storage already. At least there were no rhinos.

There's a small part of me that kind of hoped to see Thanos vanish with the half of life in the universe as a twist. Wouldn't make much sense to throw him away for the next movie though.

Also, that's a dumbass strategy for sustainability. Earth's human population has tripled in the last century, does he plan to snap his fingers every few decades to keep things in check?

Two sneaky meta jokes in the Collector scene, anyone else pick em up? I was the only one in the theater who laughed.

It did feel just a little off in retrospect, but in the moment I just assumed it was a character choice or maybe Weaving being older or phoning it in a bit. In any case, I'd be perfectly happy to for this guy to take over if they ever bring him back for another proper go.

I'm trying to figure out how Ant-Man & The Wasp fits into these events.
I expect that film will be set before the events of Infinity War and perhaps even a direct set-up. After all, Cap (?) noted Scott took a special house arrest deal for his family's sake and that's what we saw in the trailer.

Also,
Sebastian Stan said in an interview last week that he shared a scene with everyone and specifically said Michael Douglas and Michelle Pfeiffer. The implication being Janet is now back from the Quantum Realm.

That's how I read that scene, too.

I noticed that, too. I think it's a combination of good casting and even better make-up.

I'm not familiar with the character beyond the films. What were they?

Well, damn. I stand corrected and clearly I wasn't paying close enough attention to the credits. At least the article notes that Ross Marquand is known for his impressions because I thought that was Weaving before we knew it was Red Skull.

Wow....that was amazing....epic..heartbreaking....what a great movie. A great sendoff to over 10 years of buildup. I will be seeing this one again.

Thanos is insane, plus he probably sterlised half of the survivors with a snap of his fingers

Please do tell, I absolutely would like to know to whom he send that message before he...

I was told it was Captain Marvel, whoever that is. Is she/he like Superman or something? If they are that powerful where were they in the first place?

Anyone note how Thanos gave a clue as to the how to stop him?

Those were energy weapons. The first thing they did with them was raise them to a horizontal position and fire a blue energy bolt volley at the outriders. They didn't start using them as spears until everything closed to hand to hand range.

According to this
! Warning *spoilers* ending of Infinity War ! Don't read this if you haven't seen the movie !

it was indeed Captain Marvel who received that message.

Bought the tickets a month ago and saw the movie yesterday afternoon.
Infinity War stirred up a lot of feelings and shock at the end.
It was very quiet while the credits played and people waited for the trailer.

I wonder how they will fix this mess in the new Avengers movie... Take back the time stone somehow and undo all this?

Because their will be at least a new Spider-man movie, it was stated after the Spider-man : Homecoming credits, and probably other superhero movies. The timeline of those movies can't be all before this one, right?

How do you make a spoiler button that people can click?

One of the in-jokes in the Collector scene has to do with Arrested Development. I hadn't realized the Russos had directed 14 episodes of AD.
I actually did know that but I haven't watched the show so I wasn't looking for Easter Eggs connected to the show. Still, you'd think I would've noticed that background cameo. I'll have to keep an eye out for it the next time I watch the film.

[ spoiler=][/spoiler ] but without the spaces and the = is optional, used for writing a description of the spoiler.

I think you brought up an interesting point: if the "dead" are revived in A4, that pretty much hammers the idea that there's no real threat to characters of a certain level, which robs stories of real drama.[/spoilers]

So just like DC and FoX-Men then.

Took a day off to see it today since I get friggin tired of having to avoid the internet over weekends when big movies come out. Already the search engines are spoiling things by showing popular search results...

It's a good movie, a very entertaining movie. I laughed at parts etc. Not blown away by it but really impressed with it on a technical level and the cast list in this is amazing. It's Thanos heavy but they developed him well. Star Trek villains could learn a thing or two. I thought Thanos's development took away from the Avengers a bit though. I loved Civil War. Maybe the next film will give us more of an Avengers heavy reunion.

Is the title for the next movie out yet? Waited until the end of the credits and nothing.

Nope. Kevin Feige or one of the Russo brothers said a month ago that we won't find out the title for awhile because it supposedly spoils Infinity War. That said, Feige has specifically noted that saying that may have unduly raised expectations for the title.

Felt a bit like Doctor Who in some points. I guess it's the story beats.

" I don't want to go"

End of the universe and some people have been erased. They aren't forgotten though

I hope Amy Pond can remember everyone ;)
Ha! I hadn't thought it that way. If anyone can save us, it's her! Hell, that even lines up with the comics. ;)

Loved it. Gave it a B+.

I only wish one of the top 3 Avengers from Phase One would have died.
That needs to happen in part 2.

I just realized that the narrative to “THE AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR” bears a strong resemblance to a “Charmed” AU fanfiction that I had written nearly a decade ago.

If it was that easy for Thanos to achieve his goal, why in the hell did it take him so damn long? And another question . . . why does Thor have a new weapon, when "THOR: RAGNAROK" went out of its way to establish that he didn't need a weapon to channel his powers? And as the new Allfather of Asgard, shouldn't Thor be just as powerful as Thanos?
