TNG had two title credits: Season 1 and 2 had a "journey out of the sol system", whereas 3 through 7 have a different tact with a few space nebulae and some alien planets.
The first one is my pick, I love the concept and I have issues with the S3 to 7 one (that odd little blip when it pans across to the Enterprise and the join is obvious, a mistake faithfully ported and made even more obvious in the HD version). But what say you?

But it's a transition that produces a weird visual anomaly that sticks out like a sore thumb. No such problem exists at any point in the S1/2 sequence, and one wonders if they couldn't have found a way to do the shot without the starfield getting squashed up like it does. (Certainly one imagines 21st century technology could do it, even though retaining the dodgy transition effect is obviously 'purer').
