Putting aside the lyrics, the tempo, the instrumentation (which I actually like), etc. Just listen to the first 30 seconds or so, and CONCENTRATE on Watson's voice. They used TOO MUCH reverb on his voice! At times, it actually RINGS! I do NOT know WHY they did that - It is just BAD engineering, and it sounds terrible. I do NOT know HOW they could of allowed it to leave the recording studio with that overprocessing. Of course, For seasons 3 & 4, they try to cover it up by changing the instrumentation of the song, but you can still hear it. it's F-ing annoying. WTH hired that engineer, a deaf Ferengi??? I have to turn the gain down while it is playing. It could be that the engineer was FORCED to make it sound that way by some idiot producer, or some other company asshat that had no idea WTH he/she/it was doing.

I really don't care for the "Jangling Texas Spurs" countrified version of the theme song we got in later seasons. Sucks all of the hope and life out of it and turns it into a cheap commercial jingle that does not fit with the video underneath it at all... but that's just me.

I think it sounds fine. Very unpopular opinion, I know, but I've always liked the theme and the visual imagery accompanying it.

The version used in S1-2 was better than the version used in S3-4.

It sounded like the backing track to a medicine commercial, while the narrator gently listed the side effects and asked me if it wasn't time I tried Enterprise today.
