News Season 2 begins production 16th April, has 15 episodes, 1st half will premiere THIS YEAR

Don't sweat it - I don't think that anyone really thought you had inside info on any of this.
No, I do, but far from insider. Quite literally the production office for the show, they've reactivated on Google Hangouts. Didn't want to say so everyone adds them, but they're up and running again.

Personally emailed by a crew member working on the show.
Funny at Wondercon, I believe the production team stated 13 episodes:

(But, if it's 15 again this year, nice.)

Seize all material filmed for Axanar. Reuse the vxf-shots for season 2. See all hell break loose on the internet. Enjoy the flame-war from all sides :guffaw:
So thats:
- Zero live action scenes
- CGI that looks like it came out of a video game cutscene circa 2001(Oh, wait, not much of a change there... ;))

Ah premiere date promises. I remember when I was just a young lad, two years ago or so, and DSC had a January 2017 premiere date. O' Optimism! O' Youth!

But let us not weep for lost innocence where we have gained in wisdom, my friends.

Can we... I don't know... change the title to the correct '13' episodes?
It's...kinda' misleading for all the people just seeing the headline.

I guess they do need a New doctor and someone to host those disco parties.
Presumably Discovery had other doctors on staff that could pick up the slack. And there's a CMO somewhere on board too, assuming it isn't Dr. Pollard from "The War Without, the War Within."

Black dude dies always first.

Wilson Cruz isn't black.

I am a Puerto Rican gay man. That is how I identify. That is my identity. I say Puerto Rican first because it is the obvious. It’s written all over my face. It’s in the curl of my hair, in the width of my nose, and in the color of my skin. I name that first because it is the first thing you acknowledge about me. It is the first thing you see. You make your first assumptions about me based on that. Even if you do not know that I am Puerto Rican you know that I am not white and something probably tells you that I am not black, at least, not just black. The truth is, being Puerto Rican, I am all of those things and Taino, and who knows what else mixed in. I am one of those Puerto Ricans for which this is obvious. It’s not true for all of us. Puerto Ricans come in a spectrum of hues, but it is true for me. It’s a fact that, for a part of my childhood and adolescence, despite my parent’s best efforts, I wished wasn’t true, because it would’ve made life easier. Being white is easier. For one thing, everything in American popular culture when I was in my teens affirmed the beauty of whiteness. I wanted to be considered beautiful, just like anyone else. It wasn’t until later that I learned how beautiful this blend of cultures really is.

Non-white dude always dies first.
Its a combination of all of these:

Buy combining all of these into one character writers thought they could avoid being blamed for using usual tropes. Did they succeed?
(btw, do not go to tvtropes if you have anything important to do today. You'll be lost there for hours. You have been warned ;) )

How dare you not including:
http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/StuffedIntoTheFridge
http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/WomenInRefrigerators

He might be not a woman. But he sure as hell is the one dimensional perfect love interest of a main character that got stuffed into the fridge solely to motivate our hero, show the sexual preference of our hero before, and afterwards make him more "interesting" by both making him single again and giving him a tragic backstory of losing the love of his life.

That Culbert got no characterisation beyond his job title, ethnicity and relationship to one of our heroes? Par for the course.:(
