I actually think it is a better show than Deep Space Nine. Not as polished because of the budget, but a deeper and more satisfying story so far.![]()

Different tastes. I found the writing weak and the acting weaker. (with two or three exceptions)

.....ugh.
Fuckin' REALLY?
How supidly fanboy-ish is this shit going to become even more?![]()
Seriously, if THAT is what season 2 is going to be about... yeah, then I'm out... How fucking self-referential is this show going to become? I thought we already reached a limit somewhere..
God, I hope so. But at this point I wouldn't trust these numbnuts to come up with an original idea if my life depended upon it...![]()
Fanwank suckage on full!
And maybe a few episodes of TOS.If this is fan wank so was ever series after TOS
You make them sound so awesome.
ENT got it right. Harris operated in the background and sent messages over subspace, only appearing in the shadows and not bringing the entire Klingon Augment plot out into the open for the rest of Earth's government and Starfleet to see. No badges. No insignia. No operating in broad daylight and speaking about themselves in front of groups of people who have no business knowing about the existence of the organization the way Admiral Marcus did in STID.
It was starting with the second Kelvin timeline movie that Section 31 turned into an obnoxious plot point added for fanwank and edgy storytelling purposes. Before then I could swallow how they behaved. Now, eh...not so much.

You don't watch the show, from your own admission.
You've seen all of the episodes, don't even try to bullshit me.
I was talking about Babylon 5, which @BillJ is watching for the first time.Compared to S1 of DS9, or the entire run of DS9? I find it hard to compare apples to apples when I have 7 seasons of DS9 in my head vs. just 1 season of DSC.
I thought all of the shows were a little weak to start compared to where they ended up.
That's so hyperbolic... Using canon elements of the material you're writing is defined as "fanboyism" now ? That's like saying new Star Wars movies with force ghosts are fanboy-ish or that using the Pegasus in Nu-BSG was fanboy-ish.
The whole point of writing a series that fits inside a franchise is to be self-referential. Otherwise, they wouldn't call it Star Trek. I can't possibly imagine how can you conclude that the entirety of Season 2 is going to be about Section 31 watching a 2-minute bonus clip that wasn't even included in the Season Finale.
If the people in charge of Discovery were "numbnuts" and they didn't write anything original, DSC wouldn't be critically acclaimed and it would never be nominated for several different types of awards.
During the time of Discovery they quite clearly are part of Starfleet, given they have a unit based on Discovery, and the entire scene in the OP.
(From ScreenRant) Star Trek is at a fairly low cultural ebb at the moment,
Nick Fury.
Because that's what they're doing here. Section 31 is SHIELD, basically.
(P.S.: what's this about starvation by distraction with a neat shape? I feel like I'm missing a reference here...)
Hopefully because someone in production thought - Hey let's NOT do this! We'll look like tryhard dicks if we do.I wonder why they left that scene out of the episode?
Except they've already said it will be followed up in Season 2, so there really wasn't any point in cutting it. Unless it was for pacing reasons.Hopefully because someone in production thought - Hey let's NOT do this! We'll look like tryhard dicks if we do.

Wow, I don't know what show you guys watched. In my book Babylon 5 was easily the best SF show of the '90s. It was written at a whole other level than anything Trek could offer, on DS9 or otherwise.I tried getting through season 1 of B5 and couldn't finish it
