So this has never happened before on a current Star Trek show, that a bonus scene was officially released, so whadda ya reckon, did the stuff from the bonus scene actually happen in the Prime Universe, or is twitter excised from canon?

From the TrekMovie article on the DSC one

Showrunner Aaron Harberts introduced it saying “we are calling it a secret scene.” He said it was originally part of the finale, however they decided it would be “more exciting to bring it to a place like [WonderCon].”

Makes it sound legit.

It’s official until they tell us it isn’t.

BSG would do a similar thing, all the deleted scenes were considered canon and some episodes would have to play clips from them because they set up events later.

There have also been shows that would add new scenes to previously on segments as well.

Do we mean chocolate and caramel Turtles or the snapping kind? I like the candy one.

I’m sorry, was there something else under discussion?

I feel like this is a Season 2 premiere scene they filmed during the Season 1 finale, so they don't need to rebuild the Klingon homeworld set and bring back the supporting actors for just a few seconds. It'll end up in the premiere I reckon.

This isn't that rare. I mentioned elsewhere, but the DC Comics shows regularly film scenes for their next seasons months ahead of the rest of the scene.

For movies, the Marvel films do this all the time. Star Wars too. The Tunisia scenes in Episode III were actually shot during production of Episode II nearly 5 years before the film came out.

They said at the panel that it was filmed and cut from the finale.

If TATV is still canon, little can really bother me when becoming a part of it.

Contradicting it on the other hand? I shall rage.

(This one didn't)
