Spoilers Alan Van Sprang officially joins Season 2 as...

I found it amusing when Georgiou commented "you don't look like a Trill" since Trills are one of the few Trek races who haven't had their appearance changed in Disco.

Maybe she's used to dealing with Trills from The Host?
She said walk and talk. She didn’t say anything about his looks.

HAHAHA!

"Profit and Lace" is less of a compliment to women empowerment and more of an embarrassment to all parties. I enjoy a lot of the Ferengi episodes and love the women uprising storyline with Ishka, but that one episode was a gross miscalculation.

Not a fan of S31 but I wasn’t a huge fan of the idea of a Klingon war either. I’ll keep an open mind. (As long as it’s not the whole plot of season 2, it’ll be okay, I think.)

...ugh.

I'm sure he's a nice guy, and his acting in the bonus clip was pretty good.
but for gods sake, can someone PLEASE stop the producers from going full fanboy?
Like, I'm usually a big fan of little nods, Easter-eggs and references for the fans to catch. But those should be a bonus. The icing on the cake. NOT the central motive.

The entirety of this show seems to stand on self-references to previous, better materials of Trek. That's NOT how to run a good show! Goddammit show, find your OWN neat concepts and ideas to explore!

The only thing I can recall seeing Alan Van Sprang on before was in EARTH FINAL CONFLICT's season 5 as Howlyn, the Atavus leader. I thought he was okay, despite the material of that season.

I can't recall any EFC actors working in STAR TREK... wonder if we'll see more Roddenberry series crossovers. Maybe a few from ANDROMEDA...

It isn't any different from every series after TOS brining in elements from previous series.

It is, insofar as beforehand, those retro-appereances were the exception.
The shows created enough of own lore, that a callback to previous lore was welcomed. DIS so far hasn't created anything new - it only changed already pre-existing stuff.

It's like with phaser battles: In the better days, there was almost NEVER a phaser fight happening, and if so, it was a big event. But since then every episode needed to include a phaserfight, and they became boring as hell.

I like references to previous stuff, I'm a big fan of continuity (at least the "broad strokes" interpretation). But goddamit show, CREATE YOUR OWN FUCKING LORE. At least SOME. Stop 100% relying on alread established material!

I hope you haven't complained about the spore drive.

... ugh...

You just defeated me. Congrats. Well done.
Now I'll be happily looking forward to season 2's Section 31 vs. Romulan Tal'Shiar plotline with a short interlude to the Borg Dominion war without complaining, for it will probably STILL be better than what the creators of the spore drive come up with on their own next.

Next season is supposed to be "faith vs. science". If faith wins out, then Kevin Sorbo might have a role.

Season Two will be about explaining the Trill changing their look between "The Host" and the rest of Trek, while refusing to acknowledge or explain the change in the Klingons.

I meant EFC actors/actresses who started there and went to guest or recur in STAR TREK.
There are at least five people who were on EFC and then ENT, so he's far from the first.

Peter Mensah, Larissa Laskin, Bruce Gray, Steven Allerick.
