News Season 2 begins production 16th April, has 15 episodes, 1st half will premiere THIS YEAR

Good! Season 1 might not have been the best, but if we'd have to wait until 2019 for Season 2, I'd personally have to cut off all the thumbs of those involved.

If this turns out to be true, and I hope it does, I wonder if CBS might have had anything to do with perhaps, speeding things up a bit so that the gap between seasons isn't so long. And might the cancelling of subscriptions following the end of the first season have been a determining factor in getting the show back in 2018 rather than 2019. As I said, if this turns out to be true.

It probably won't happen but I keep hoping, if we see Spock, they have a reveal and it's Zachary Quinto.

I agree that mass cancellations of CBS AA accounts probably influenced 2nd season starting in 2018 instead of the earlier reported 2019.

The producers did say they didn't plan to cast that role. Quinto is one actor that wouldn't need to audition.

I reckon it was always coming September - that's when Amazon UK has the first season 2 merchandise coming out anyway.

Ugh, eww.... nope. That would be confusing; he's the wrong age, and has a terrible demeanor for Spock. Literally ANYONE else...... hopefully a complete unknown that actually GETS and *understands* the part....Quinto? I'd probably stop watching..... :P

No offense but I will wait for actual news.
This is not news.
Yeah---While it sounds great I would like more than--"my inside man says". Many things can delay production. I will cross fingers though. Maybe this weekends panel will drop some official info.

Yeah, the guy Leonard Nimoy himself backed as the new Spock (and became close friends with) totally doesn't understand the role.

That said, I doubt it'll be Zachary. DISCO will have their own Spock just like Supergirl has it's own version of Superman. And they'll wheel him and the Enterprise out whenever they need a boost.

I've been expecting a September/October return myself. The only source I recall giving an "early 2019" date was Harberts, and he was just saying that would be his preference. I always figured the suits at CBS would want to push for a fall return. They haven't built up the catalog of original programming on All Access to the point where they can weather that long of a break.

I do think we're likely to get a shorter fall run this year (6 or 7 episodes as opposed to the nine we got last year) given the April start for production - assuming this report is accurate.

This is good news! It should be airing right after season 2 of "The Expanse" wraps up so my scifi addiction will be well fed this year
