Anyone read "Chief O'Brian at work"?

John de Lancie's Q was always played as clever, brutal, and puckish as well as very curious about humanity. With his ability to manipulate time and space it is hard to imagine him being bored or annoyed without simply jumping ahead or elsewhere.

So I sort of wonder if his "little people" comment to O'Brien wasn't more than a little bit of an ethnic slur, used as a tiny humanity experiment more to satisfy his own curiosity than to put Miles down except to gauge his reaction?

It would be interesting to know whether anyone ever raised this tiny incident with the actor on that point? Did he know it? Was it intended that way? Did he even write/ad-lib the line himself with intent? Or perhaps the ethnic flavor was never intended and it was just a throwaway line by the writers.
