And the Next Cancelled Show is...

I don't watch the show but the creators aren't stupid, they know TNT won't have scripted shows in 3-5 years. They came out and said that they will wrap up storylines but that it obviously can continue on for many more seasons. The normal 'We know we are canceled, but we won't say it until TNT does'.

Why won't they have scripted shows?

To save money. They have been canceling so many of their shows, there won't be any left in a few years. Their new shows won't ever have an audience as there are no older shows people come to the channel to check out. I'm starting to feel like they will do what AE did, cancel scripted shows after their older shows have ended.

I guess that makes sense. Also I think they are connected to TBS and TBS could simply be where their scripted shows are broadcast. RIght now they have all comedies but I assume they will want to do hour long drama's at some point.

Speaking of TNT, does anybody know if GOOD BEHAVIOR is getting a third season. I'm dubious, alas, since I seldom met anyone else who was watching it.

(My attempt to start a thread on the show on this BBS turned into a ghost town immediately.)

As for THE LIBRARIANS . . . dare I mention that there's still one more novel in the pipeline? :)

I suspect Librarians has a bit of a cult following to it. It may be down, for now, but not out permanently. I hope, anyway.

On the other hand, TNT is hyping THE ALIENIST for all it's worth, which is a big, expensive scripted drama. And they've been hyping various new dramas every week during THE ALIENIST, including some new women-driven drama being developed by Patty Jenkins of WONDER WOMAN fame.

When reading about the cancellation of Major Crimes, the article said there is a new CEO/president who is doing away with all the older programming in favor of new programming. Out with the old, in with his shows.

I worked for a company with a boss like that. He came in from some Perot Systems satellite. Real ballbreaker. He would walk the halls in the morning to see who was in at "core hours" and make snide comments about people's attire if he found them less-than-professional looking (in his opinion). He would let old contracts expire and not renew them, even if hey were profitable, and replace them with his own contracts (which weren't really any better). It took years for the board to figure out how much he eviscerated the accounts receivable. By then it was too late and it all dissolved. Very sad...lots of talented people went elsewhere because of that fuckstick. I predict a similar fate for this one.

Man, TNT sucks ass. First they cancel Major Crimes, now The Librarians...Y

Liked Major Crimes, although it took a while (really took a while to like Captain Rader).

But have never watched The Librarians, mainly because I watched Warehouse 13, which got cancelled itself, and then I heard that The Librarians had went to series. Why? Similar concept.

Still miffed!

To be fair, I doubt that one had to do with the other, since we're talking different networks. Plus, the original Librarian TV-movies predated Warehouse 13 by years, so it's not like The Librarians was ripping off WH13 or anything.

(He says, having written for both series.)

Another renewal: NCIS will get season 16, although only two characters who were with the show since day one are still part of the cast: Mark Harmon and David McCallum.

Some have been wondering if McCallum was getting ready to retire as he's not getting any younger and his role has been much smaller this season.
