Nah, both Trek and Wars more or less have a very fickle fan base. Being decades old franchises it's no surprise. The James Bond franchise has them as well, though not as prolific.

And to get back on topic... yes, this is the prime universe. I sleep well at night knowing that. No amount of disgruntled fans can dispute that, though that won't stop them from trying.

It's Prime. You may not like the show or the look but the timeline matches up and fits with the ones we know from both ENT and TOS even if you have to bend and twist things a little to make some datapoints fit properly.

The producers may be doing a mediocre job of making it look Prime but it is.

And let's not get into the Mirror Universe Gorn, which more closely resembles a velociraptor with reptillian eyes that have pupils. It only looks like the TOS Gorn from a couple of angles, and the closest resemblance is when it's lurking in the shadows above MU Archer and not yet exposed to any bright lighting.

No, definitely Star Trek fans.

While I have seen some pretty toxic Trekkies as of late and I do think that overly fussy fans are a universal fandom problem -- I will freely admit that I'm being overly fussy on this thread (it's just that the decisions bug the heck out of me) -- I think that Trekkies are some of the least toxic fandoms out there right now overall; the old joke that Star Wars fans are the ones who hate Star Wars the most is so true that it isn't funny anymore (George Lucas hate, Special Editions and updates hate, Disney hate, Legends movement, somewhat-overstated TLJ hate, etc.) I also think that comics are attracting a lot of toxic fans, what with the SJW conspiracy theorists and their un-ironically named Comicsgate movement.

Except for the eyes, I thought it looked enough like a Gorn to be fine with it.

At least the Gorn skeleton in Lorca's lab looks just like the TOS Gorn.

Was this a mirror universe thing? Since otherwise, it's an anachronism and so wrong irregardless of how accurate it was made.

I doubt the Gorn skeleton came from the Mirror Universe. Lorca jumped universes quite accidentally while he was trying to escape ISS Buran after his failed coup attempt. It would be quite random if he decided to bring along a Gorn skeleton for what he intended to be a simple escape.
True. "Arena" was first contact with the Gorn, wasn't it?
Indeed it was. Although, early plans for the Enterprise episode The Andorian Incident had it featuring the Gorn instead of Andorians. It was Brannon Braga who pointed out that Arena was first contact with the Gorn, and so The Gorn Incident became The Andorian Incident instead.

Well, different experience and all that. I know that SW fans can be that way, but I've met Trek fans around who make GL haters look down right pleasant with their hatred of JJ Abrams. Given the general antipathy towards ENT, Kelvin and now DISCO ("Not real Star Trek!" "Ruining Star Trek!" "CBS SUCK!" "Should give Star Trek to the fans!" etc) I'm hard pressed to say one is less or more than another fandom. Primarily because I think it just runs in human nature.

I've certainly seen plenty of criticism of the Abrams films (and before that ENT, and more recently DSC). I haven't generally seen it expressed through the sort of juvenile epithets in your parenthetical, though. Where are you seeing comments like these?

"The Gorn Incident" -That actually has quite the ring to it. I like it.

Where on earth did Lorca accumulate all that crazy tish in his "collection"? He must have gotten it all at once as payment for something. Or he robbed Jabba the Hutt on an afternoon with a transporter.

Or he spent every waking moment of his 3-5 months on Discovery scouring the deep web, to put together collection to match the one in his home universe.
