Mission Crate

I got the first real, live Mission Crate today.

Contents:
ST DSC Starfleet Division Badge (I got "Command")
ST: TNG "Borg Assimilation" T-Shirt, depicting a white outline of Ent-D superimposed over a green outline of a Borg Cube.
Locutus of Borg Mini Master (inaction figure -- no points of articulation)
USS Enterprise-D Mini Master (smaller than the Eaglemoss ships, but bigger than a Micro Machine.)
"Resistance is Futile" decal.

The "bad" is that they shipped it in a crate shaped like a TOS Shuttlecraft -- which got the "nosecone" crushed by the shipper, so the packaging of Locutus of Borg is also crushed. Badly. So now I get to try and get them to replace it.

Anyway, this seems a little thin for $40 plus shipping...

On one hand I'm disappointed, on the other hand at least I'm disappointed now instead of when it arrives. Future boxes may have something I actually want that I don't already have.

Loot Crate is doing (at least) six Star Trek “crates” in 2018. They’re supposed to come every other month.

The first crate was originally slated to ship late last year, but was delayed multiple times.

I have subscribed to the Firefly version, what they call a "cargo crate" and it's showed up late maybe 1/3 of the time.

As for the goods inside, I'd say on average, each box has one or two really great things that make it about worth the asking price, one or two things that are a little bit 'meh' and the rest silly crap I'd never buy. One or two of the boxes have been solid home runs and one or two have been pretty much pantloads.

I'm not disillusioned enough to cancel the subscription, but I don't think I'd make an enthusiastic recommendation for this stuff either.

Crate #2 arrived on 8/15, about 5 and a half months after Crate #1. If anything, it’s even more underwhelming than the first offering.

1) Worf Mini Master. Not bad, at least the box isn’t crushed this time, like Locutus was in Crate #1 (which Mission Crate declined to replace)
2) Mirror Universe Tribble. Cute idea. I might be able to flip it on eBay.
3) Klingon socks. Stupid idea. Unlikely I can flip these on eBay.
4) Klingon Emblem Badge. OK. Might wear this sometime.
5) Klingon sticker. No, just no.
6) Discovery Lapel Pin. Well, I got a Discovery insignia first time around, so now I have the mini-me version as well.

Based on that content I canceled my subscription. Since I stupidly paid in advance for “a year,” I still have 4 crates to come. At their present rate, it will take them until 2020 to finish my “year”.

I'm more glad than ever that I got a full refund. (Originally paid for a year in advance, never got crate #1, crate #2 delayed, I think the rep was happy to refund me just top get rid of me.)
