It could be interesting to have a thread that would display great retro
(before 21st Century) games...
Without having anything more to say right now I'll just start with:

Flashback from 1992

I loved it back then and I want to play it again.

If you are thinking about a game right now,
feel free to join the thread and post up pictures/gifs of some old beautys =)

In those days these installers were miracles :D

Of course the demo scene was brilliant at that time...
There are several in this thread:

A bit more modern, Borderlands, the first one, there's something about its style that I really like, also some levels have really nice music..

I used to wander around the levels, avoiding the bandits and just see what was there.:mallory:

And quite more modern, I love Saints Row III a lot, I usually spend more time walking/driving/flying around Steelport than to actually play the game.

Metal Gear Solid - 1998

From the brilliant mind of 小島 秀夫 Kojima Hideo
One the most innovative and atmospheric games of the century.

This one was talked about forever and suffered numerous delays after initially announced a release in 1995.
Nevertheless very enjoyable graphics and animations when it finally arrived.

Another strange and innovative game from the 90's:

Echoes - Pink Floyd
"And deep beneath the rolling waves
In labyrinth of coral caves
The echo of a distant tide
Comes willowing across the sand"

There's an interesting connection between Ecco The Dolphin and Pink Floyd songs. The creator of Ecco, Ed Annunziatta was a huge Pink Floyd fan and the level in the game called "Welcome to the machine" was Ed's tribute to his favourite musical artist.
