In most forums there are many members but most of the people who post regularly are limited to a select few & I've noticed if you're not one of the regulars it can get a bit bitchy when anyone new comes along. What is it like here.. are there regulars or are there loads of people all the time? :D

well i noticed the rules say no swearing (even with asterisks to blank it out), so that might help to create a congenial atmosphere I'm hoping

It can help to just sit and lurk a bit, get to know the tone of the forum. It's great to be enthusiastic, but people can react badly if a new person starts posting a lot without learning the etiquette of the forum first. If you're finding that people on a lot of forums are being "bitchy," you might want to reassess your approach.

Other than that, it's like anywhere else. I've met people here that I consider friends and others that annoy me greatly. I hope that you enjoy the community and stick around.

We tend to get bitchy if someone new comes along with a lot of borderline trollish posts. Coming to my attention this early is *never* a good thing. Take note and adjust accordingly.

Sign me the Head Bitch.

There's a difference between the new person being bitched at and the new person observing other people bitching among themselves, or at another person.

The Discovery subforum is an excellent current example of this.

I understand, but he referenced a change in behavior when a new person comes along, so I assumed he was speaking about the former.

No fucking swearing? Goddammit!
This post is so fucking wrong it's almost fucking laughable.

Well one of the key rules is not attack the poster but rather the contents of their post. But I can certainly understand the OP's point it is not always easy to go somewhere new and what might come off as "bitchy" might just be a bit of playful banter between people who know how far they can go with a particular poster before it crosses a line for them.

Not to mention various different nationalities on here American, British, Australian, German and Canadian to name a few which can cause a few differences in viewpoints.

But if swearing is "banned" does that include made up swear words?

I was of the understand this forum (Misc) is a little more relaxed. I would agree with some of the others in this thread. Read and check out the 'climate' you'll soon know what reception people get.

I would recommend you find your favourite Trek show and post for fun in there and pop over here for a dose of politics and religion and what is that other subject one doesn't talk about?
