I have a very important question:

Are most Star Trek fans verbose people?

I don't think I am but most of the evidence seems to contradict that opinion.

Let's me put it this way: I've seen every episode enough times that I've now moved on from actually watching the episodes to looking at things like the fake baby that Jeri Ryan holds in that episode with the Borg children, but she's actually manipulating its arms to make it look real. Star Trek, to me, is a TV show.

I'm taken by how they sell us the world of Star Trek on a limited budget. BTS stuff is the most fascinating to me. I'd love to hang out on a Star Trek set.

Oh my cock.

I meant "you" as an a generalization of "a person." My post was "a person either gets it or they don't." I was not making a specific accusation to you in particular.

But you know, keep making generalizations and jumping to unfounded conclusions and I'm sure you'll fit in among some Trek BBS users.

I think "diverse" is actually an understatement.

Star Trek is well over 750 "hours" of live-action entertainment spanned across over 50 years. Plus books, comics, fanzines, fan films, etc etc etc.

There's something to appeal to everyone in there. A lot of fans only like certain elements of the franchise (passionately in fact) and then utterly despise other elements of the franchise (also passionately). They can be very binary. There are fans who believe that the "vision" of humanity's future that is portrayed is virtually a religious template...while others just want outer-space action adventure. Some only care about very VERY specific elements (Section 31 people are a great example...or Data fans, yikes).

Most are pretty normal and welcoming. Some are very kind and generous. Some are completely snobbish and mean-spirited. Some are downright awful. Then there's everything in between. Unfortunately, most places on the interwebs highlight the less-desirable elements of fandom considerably. The fans I know in real life are nothing like a lot of people you see writing comments on message boards and in comment sections online.

Like I said, just like any other highly diverse group that has had 50 years and 3 generations to develop.

A bunch of gawky, obsessive, socially-awkward nerds who live at home with their parents, never get outside and are so pasty white that as soon as rare beam of sunlight hits one of us it can be seen from orbit.

This thread's not much better than the other one.

Are most Star Trek fans "verbose"?

Not getting many serious replies, probably because it was not a good start.

Why not take a breath and rethink your approach? There are threads in the lounges which are more for introducing yourself and getting to know people. And of course you started almost the same thread in Miscellaneous, so...
