Netflix vs DVD's

I like watching series 1-3 on Netflix because I can start on my Apple TV, MacBook, iPad, or on the road with my iPhone. I cannot do this with DVD's. But tell me am I missing something watching the series with Netflix such as special effects or new scenes that I would be getting with DVD's? The only thing I have noticed is the end credits that cannot be viewed on Netflix. Anything else?

I prefer discs for the better picture and sound quality. But, I've owned the Blu-ray discs since 2009. Plus, the option exists to watch the episodes with the original effects.

I have the DVDs with the original effects on them. Netflix just has the remastered episodes.

The DVDs also have the "Next Week on Star Trek" segments, which are fun to see.

But, yeah, you can't beat the convenience of a streaming service.

I think you can avoid missing the end credits! On our X-Box we lose them but on the Wii they do play at the end!

I`m in germany..so netflix might work different here...but here the first few seconds of the end credits are shown in a little window while a "next episode in x seconds" counter runs. If you click on that credits window the picture goes back to full screen and the full end credits continue.

Exactly the same here, Freddy! That's if we watch it through the X-Box! Through the Wii it shows the episode in full!

I use a Roku II. If doesn't automatically advance to the next episode at all. So, I get all the credits.

I watch the episodes occasionally on commercial television which have the remastered effects which I'm personally OK with.
They do however definitely have missing scenes to presumably fit into the hour.
I also have access to Netflix but am not sure they have the missing scenes. I suppose I could check but I can't remember the episodes with missing scenes offhand until I watch the episodes.

I believe in having DVDs in my possession in case the series is withdrawn from Netflix.

So the TOS episodes were remastered twice. First for the DVD and then again for Blu-ray. Were there any additional scenes recovered and inserted in the Blu-ray that weren't in the first remastering for the DVD's?

Are their any documentaries or special features on the Blu Ray's that are really interesting and has something to offer we haven't already time after time over the years?

I don't think I've seen every episode of the remastered series anyway! I've gone out of my way to watch those episodes that I like and see their new effects and also those that I've heard about! Day of The Dove's new Klingon ship moving into orbit behind the Enterprise is in no way superior to the original model! :scream:

Not much. Better to get the Roddenberry Vault.

That looks pretty cool. I would proably need to get the other boxset as well though, wouldn't I? You say select episodes which I assumes means that not all the episodes are in it.

Twelve episodes, if I remember correctly.
