This is a twist on a game that is played here, which I thoroughly enjoyed. I am very curious to see the results.

Here's the game. The basic idea is your standard elimination game. I'll provide a list of the episodes for each season and you need to eliminate your most favorite or the one you deem the 'best.' Please provide an EXPLANATION for why you are eliminating your choice and be sure to copy and paste the list with your choice removed. Finally, wait six hours and leave at least 2 eliminations by other posters before you eliminate another episode.

No tactical voting! You cannot remove an episode because you feel they would threaten your preferred episode's chance to win. Pretty simple. Enjoy!

I will get the ball rolling by dancing with the devil "IN THE PALE MOONLIGHT". This was among the very best of not just DS9, but the franchise as a whole. Brilliantly acted by all, and an excellent showcase of Sisko and Garak.

Every move, every deal just got worse and worse for Sisko as he got his hands dirtier and dirtier. He did need Garak to take it as far as he did, but no other Captain would have been as willing to even start the process. And his final statement at the end, trying to convince himself that he can live with it... highest caliber acting.

ALWAYS a rewatch when it airs.

So many good ones to choose from! I have to start with Rocks and Shoals, my favorite of the opening arc. Classic Garak, the duplicitous Vorta, Sisko having to make a choice he doesn't want to make, Kira being forced to realize how comfortable she's become... so many great things in this episode.

For my first save, I was torn between the one I chose and "ROCKS AND SHOALS". It gladdens my heart that someone picked it right after my save.

FAR BEYOND THE STARS. Not only does it subvert the traditional structure of Star Trek but it allows the cast to have great fun playing totally different roles. It's thematically ambitious and a real triumph overall.

[Bad Thoughts]

I've removing YOU ARE CORDIALLY INVITED. The resolution of the conflict between Dax and Martok's wife doesn't get enough attention,but this episode is purely fun. I love the contrast between the two paths taken by Dax and Worf, and the overall question about tradition and modern relationships is interesting. Sisko and Dax have some cool Old Man moments. And that is one cool bachelorette party. Who doesn't want to do the Nog dance?

"Behind The Lines" is another strong installment in the Dominion Arc. Knowing how later episodes fumble it's developments can weaken it somewhat, but as it's own piece the return of the Female Shapeshifter and the turning of Odo is fantastically compelling TV.

I am sitting down while saving "A TIME TO STAND". This was a great season premiere, with the first shot showing just how badly Starfleet is doing in the war.

The entire episode had great moments, and set things up beautifully. I love Kira's line of how she trusts Weyoun more than Dukat. And it even had some humor peppered in the episode, like when Sisko tells Dax to "Try not to break any bones." after her and Worf settle on a wedding detail and head out of the Mess Hall.

I also liked the redesign of the Jem'Hadar ship 'viewscreen'. The device looked much more cumbersome when we last saw it. Having a 'viewscreen in your brain' definitely sounds like fun.

And, of course, it's always a pleasure to have Garak in an episode.

It's my honor to save one of my all-time favorite Trek episodes, "Who Mourns for Morn?" I mentioned in the comedy episodes thread how much I love this one (along with the previously saved "The Magnificent Ferengi"). The Lissepian Mother's Day Heist. Larell in the mud bath. The excellent Gregory Itzin as Hain. Everyone turning on each other at the end, including Krit and Nahsk. Bricks of worthless gold - "And it's all yours." "You know Morn, he never shuts up." "No wonder your hair fell out." My favorite in the long-running gag of Morn never speaking: "I don't want to hear it. Not one word." I grin from start to finish when I watch this one.

Valiant. A very solid episode, and a nice demonstration of how a young prodigy might be able to punch above their weight when surrounded by competent and experienced people, but take that away and disaster will inevitably ensue.

WALTZ!!!!!! Concentrated Dukat-Sisko. I think it really got to the core of Dukat's character and his own amnesia over his past.

Glad someone else likes "Waltz"! I am not in agreement with the general consensus that Dukat's season 6 turn back to "pure evil" was a bad or reductive one. Dukat was always Hitler and his arc was always an examination of the nature of evil. We go through those years of morally complicating him not to move away from that fact, but to understand that Dukat can help it. He has the potential to be a better person and he could make different choices. He just doesn't. As @Bad Thoughts says, "Waltz" really does a good job of getting to the core of who Dukat is.

Since I just missed saving "Waltz" myself, I'll save "Change Of Heart" instead. A fantastic, powerful hour for Worf. I like how it plays with the usual structure, stopping the B story mid-episode to let the intensity of the A story takeover. A strong showcase for Jadzia as well... I'm so glad they didn't use this as the story to get her off the show (which Terry Farrell wanted at the time), putting her death directly on Worf's shoulders would have been too much.

I like Dukat's acceptance of his true self in Waltz, what I don't like is how it got all tied up in Bajoran religion in the next season.
