I need help with a Justice League project

Hi, all. I need some help from the creative types here on these boards.

I'm trying to create a "Virtual Television Series" fanfiction project based on the Justice League and using the characters of Superman (Kon-El), Batman (Dick Grayson), Wonder Woman (Cassie Sandsmark), The Flash (Jesse Chambers), Green Lantern (Jennifer-Lynn Hayden), Aquaman (Kaldur'ahm), Martian Manhuntress (M'gann M'orss), and Green Arrow (Lian "Artemis" Harper), but have been unable to create a satisfactory backstory for Kon-El, and was hoping that somebody could help me out.

The only things I was able to settle on when it comes to my version of Kon-El is that I want him to be the son of Kal-El and Thara Ak-Var and, if possible, come from an intact Krypton, but at this point will take any backstory suggestions I can get even if they don't match those criteria.

Please help me out here, because I'm desperate.

The question I would ask is why a Kryptonian from an intact Krypton is on Earth. Most aliens living on Earth are exiles or last survivors. Was Kon lost and somehow wound up on Earth? Is he visiting for some reason? Perhaps as a scientist studying Earth?

That's exactly the issue I couldn't resolve, and was hoping somebody else would have an idea of how to make it work.
 
Not sure Superman works without growing up on Earth. Sure he can have the powers, but there's more to Superman than that. I assume you want something different than the usual take since you're using "Sidekicks".
 
I can think of a few reasons why a small child might get exiled from his own planet, but if you're thinking of him growing up on Krypton you have to wonder what his interest is in earth. Not sure I can explain why he'd bother with earth as an adult, though.

[set loose in a capsule to escape enemies - think Moses; stolen by enemies who instruct one of their member to kill him but they can't face doing it - several mythologies; separated from parents on an outing to another planet and never found, taken to earth as a ' nice safe place' - has the advantage of a family who might still be looking for him...]
 
I went with 'second-gen' characters as the iconic "Big 7"+1 Justice League mainly to set my idea apart and give it some uniqueness, which is also one of the reasons I wanted to go with the idea of Krypton never having exploded.

Just for a bit of context, here's some summaries of the backstories I developed for the other characters:
* Dick Grayson grew up in the circus, and became a vigilante after his parents were murdered by a small-time mobster named Tony Zucco (this is loosely derived from the BTAS version of the character's backstory as seen in "Robin's Reckoning")

* Cassie Sandsmark is the biological daughter of the goddess Athena and a human man named Lennox Sandsmark, and discovered her goddess origins when her mother sent a messenger to find her on her 18th birthday and bring her to Mount Olympus. After spending some time with her mother, Cassie returned to the mortal realm and, inspired by her experiences, decided to become a superhero

* Jesse Chambers is the second person in my universe to use the moniker of The Flash, having had it passed down to her by her father Jonathan (who used it as part of a superhero team called the Justice Society, a group that also included her mother Libby Lawrence [Liberty Belle]), and inherited both her father's super-speed and her mother's super-strength

* Jennifer-Lynn Hayden is the second Earth-based member of the Green Lantern Corps in my universe, having inherited her father Alan Scott's Power Ring after he was killed in action off-world; her father had also been a member of the Justice Society along with Jesse and Artemis' parents

* Kaldur'ahm is the full-blooded Prince of Atlantis in my universe, and was sent to the 'surface world' as a rite of passage. Initially dismissive of humans as 'lesser beings', Kaldur's attitude changed after he rescued a young environmental activist named Lorena Marquez, kickstarting a chain of events that eventually led to him using his inborn abilities to fight for justice as a superhero

* M'gann M'orss is a biological Green Martian in my universe, and was sent away by her parents just prior to the White Martians wiping out the entirety of the Green Martian race. Her ship crash-landed on an asteroid in the Vega system, where it was discovered by a team of astronauts, including a man named Benjamin Morse, who rescued and adopted her, giving her the 'anglicized' name of Megan. While in college, Megan used her Martian abilities to stop a group of fraternity brothers from raping her and a friend of hers, after which she decided to use her powers in full to protect people openly as a superhero, adopting the codename "Martian Manhuntress" as a bit of an inside joke

* Lian "Artemis" Harper is the daughter of Roy Harper and Jade Nyguen-Harper and is the second person to use the moniker of Green Arrow in my universe, having inherited it from her father (who, like Jonathan Chambers, Libby Lawrence-Chambers and Alan Scott, was a member of the Justice Society [along with Jade, who used the moniker of Black Canary]

As an aside, I realized that I inadvertently ended up creating a 5-to-3 female to male ratio on my team, so I might add a couple more characters just to even things out... I just can't figure out who else to add, so suggestions would be appreciated on that front as well.

Also, the idea I originally had was for Kon to have grown up on Krypton, but, as noted, was having a hard time figuring out how and why he'd come to Earth.
 
52 earths in the multiverse, means at least 35 Kryptons in the Multiverse.

Mom is from Krypton 17, and dad is from Earth Prime
 
It's interesting how you used the elements of the team from 'Young Justive' for your Justice League. What happened to the original Justice League if I may ask, please?

Nothing 'happened' to the more familiar 'first generation' characters.

I just chose not to use them in order to make things unique and interesting.

As an aside, I think I've settled on my two additions to the lineup:
Starman (Jack Knight)
Warhawk (Rex Hall)

The backstories for the characters are as follows:
* Jack is the son of Justice Society member Courtney Whitmore (Star-Girl) and a U.S. soldier named Ted Knight, and inherited his mother's costumed identity and superpowered accessories (a gravity belt and "power staff")

* Rex is the son of Hank and Dawn Hall (nee Granger), who operated as the "Golden age" heroes Hawk (Hank) and Dove (Dawn) using suits of winged armor that they'd found while on a vacation in Egypt
 
Since many of your characters are legacy heroes, why not make Kon one too? Make him the son of Hugo Danner. (Gladiator) an updated take on Iron Munroe.
 
Interesting suggestion.

The dynamic that's emerged with the character lineup I've chosen is that it's evenly split between "legacy" characters and "non-legacy" characters, and I'd kind of like to keep it intact, but I'll keep the idea of making Kon a legacy character in mind.

One of the reasons that I like the idea of Kon as a full-blooded Kryptonian beyond what it does to set the character apart is that I also sort of stumbled upon the idea of inverting the Krypton/Daxam relationship where Krypton survives and Daxam doesn't, with Daxam giving my universe Justice Society member Power-Girl (Kara Enzae/Karen Starr) and Krypton giving my universe Superman.
 
Back in the 80s I suggested to DC that Power Girl be made a Daxamite. They went with Atlantean.:wtf:
 
Anybody got any more suggestions as to how to bring Kon-El to Earth from an intact Krypton?

If not, I ended up hitting on an idea that I think will work quite well (essentially combining his 'classic' design with the design of the Eradicator and making the 'source' of his powers, at least initially, a "power suit", and tying this version of Krypton to the planet of Apokalips directly by putting it (Apokalips) in the Phantom Zone and essentially making Krypton the "guardians of the Zone" and therefore responsible when armies of Apokalips escape the Zone and set their sights on Earth, which is what I want the catalyst for my League coming together to be).
 
ship crash landed, and never got a distress signal out and grew up on earth, maybe not a farm like Kal, but to a traveling circus, or a big tent church pastor family this would give him some morals, albeit the second idea might be a little puritanical but both would foster a sense of right and wrong
 
I'm necro'ing this thread because I came up with a different idea that I wanted to share and get some feedback on.

My new idea is to essentially adapt the DC Animated Universe Justice League cartoon, but with Aquaman as a founding member and Barbara Gordon standing in for Bruce Wayne as "Batwoman". I'm also toying with the idea of using Kyle Rayner instead of John Stewart and adding an idea from the lost "Justice League: The First Mission" pitch reel in the form of a female version of Cyborg and swapping out Wally for Bart Allen, but can't decide for sure.

Since this is meant to "riff" on the DCAU, the characters' backstories are essentially the same as in that franchise, albeit tweaked slightly in order to accommodate a "setup narrative" that is based in part on the New 52 DC Comics universe where superheroes have only shown up within the past 5 years and that divorces the Imperium from any direct connection to the planet of Mars.

Thoughts/suggestions on this idea, especially on whether I should go with adding a female Cyborg, Wally versus Bart, and Kyle versus John?
 
Given my fondness for "Next Generation" concepts in comics (Super Sons and Batman Beyond are two of my favourite titles in DC's current lineup), and my WIP DC 'Next Gen'/Harry Potter crossover, I've considered this question in some detail and IMO the most important things are consistency and plausibility.

I think your idea of adapting the DCAU is a good one, but I'm wary of changing more than needs to be changed:

I would have Superwoman (Kara In-zee), Batwoman (Barbara Gordon) and Aquaman as your "Big Three" (as Kara and Babs were exclusively published during the Silver Age and after.

The remaining members would be Flash, either Jessie Quick as a 'legacy hero' or Wally (Barry may have existed, but retired once Wally was old enough to take over), Green Lantern (either Jade and Obsidian or Kyle Rayner (all three are a similar age to Wally and Babs) and Martian Manhunter (either J'onn or M'gann but should be a peer or older than the others). I'd also be fine with a Victor(ia) Stone as a Cyborg, in which case I'd probably plan for at least Raven and Changeling (and potentially Nightwing and Starfire) as a recurring characters.

In going with a "riff" on the DCAU Justice League, I've moved away from the "Next Gen Justice League" idea I had when I originally made this thread, although as I sit here and think about it there might be a way to combine the two ideas if I used Kara In-Ze as Superwoman, either Dick or Terry as Batman, Kyle as Green Lantern, and swapped Orin/Arthur for Mareena.

Even if I didn't go that route per se, I do like the idea of swapping Clark with Kara, although I'd have to figure out how to do a riff on her DCAU backstory that doesn't involve him, which might be tricky.

Not really, DCAU! Kara is from Argo a seperate planet than Krypton, though like the Arrowverse!Daxam it is still in the Rao system. Although she was discovered by Superman in Superman: TAS it could just as easily have been a GL (classically it would have been Tomar-Re of Xudar, currently his son Tomar-Tu and his partner Dalor and Dalor of Timaron cover that sector).
