How knowledgeable are you guys?

This might be a tough one. A few years back I read a Trek book. I can't remember what iteration of Trek but I want to say TNG era. All I can remember is that the epilogue was set many years in the future, in comparison to it's setting and it was describing a federation ship, it's crew and tech of that era. I want to say it involved some sort of AI and a description of some new propulsion system. The Q series of books keeps coming to mind but if I'm honest, I'm having trouble reconciling the two concepts. I know it's a big ask, but if anyone out there has any idea of what I am talking about, I'd love anymore info.

Are they the authors that helped William Shatter with his Shatnerverse novels? Because after I posted those stories kept coming to mind as well.

Thank you for pointing me in the right direction. As mentioned it's been years since I have read those. Maybe it's time to re-edit them. Thanks again

Could very well be. I have read the anthology, but the title of the story is unfamiliar. I'll let you guys know. And again, thanks for the help and suggestions to all.

Sorry for the double post, but I can't seem to edit my previous post.

Thanks to those who provided suggestions, but the story I am recalling is neither Federation or Million Year Mission. I will attempt to track it down and if I find it, I shall let you know.

Million year mission is from one of the Strange new world books I can't remember which book it's in but I did re-read that story again a few years ago.
