That reminds me. That blood stain just will not come out of the forum's upholstery. We can't keep turning the thing over.

Could they not come up with a better acronym than STD.
They did. It's DSC (on startrek.com and Wikipedia) or DIS (the latter being in line with the convention for single-word titles), not STD. When has "Star Trek" been a part of the acronym, people? Using STD is disingenuous at best. It's juvenile.

TMP was absolutely designed to be a soft reboot of TOS, Roddenberry's novelisation of the film even goes as far to say "Actually TOS is basically nonsense propaganda and TMP is what it always looked like"
Yes! I remember reading that! I also remember wondering why Roddenberry would say that.

"STD" just sounds dumber anyways whether or not it already shares an acronym with genital warts and urethral infections.

Just reboot the forum. That's a neat trick.
But then fans of the original forum will be in here screaming about how the avatars are all wrong, the quote tags are the wrong shape and the "post reply" buttons are on the bottom left instead of on the bottom right. And the fact that the Starship Size Argument doesn't have a "TM" at the end of it is a massive canon violation.

They are SO living in the past. Let them pine for their old layout...

Let the layout die. Kill it if you have to

What just happened? O_O

So, as the fan service and easter eggs and deep cuts continue to pile up like a breakfast special at IHOP, are people still insisting this is a reboot? I'm trying to visualize what would satisfy people and put this insanity to rest.

The Discovery train left this thread some time ago.

I'm trying to figure out how winknods prove it isn't a reboot? Even the new Battlestar had a ton of winknods to the old.

Heck, the Klingons are all that I need to think this is a reboot. And I'm not talking about the look of them or their spaceships. I'm talking about how they can barely speak their own language. Just compare their verbal capabilities with someone like Kang or Chang.

Or are the writers of the show hanging their interpretation on the racist line from Star Trek VI?

CREWMAN #2: What about that smell? You know only the top of the line models can even talk and...

Nothing will.

And I know people who can barely speak English as their first language. And?
