I give it a 9 solely for the fact that it was a short episode. With that said, I felt it was a very good episode with some very big shocks (like eating Mirror Saru and Lorca/Mirror Burnham being an item). Yes, some people predicted Lorca was Mirror Lorca, but a lot of others said he wasn’t. So even if he was the Prime Lorca people would be saying that the show is predictable. I personally would rather have twists that make sense and are subtly teased in previous episodes rather than out of nowhere twists that make no sense. The reveal of Mirror Lorca was awesome

It's worse than I thought

Ava? I would have thought Landry which would fit with interview comments sleeping together.

I really enjoy Jason Isaacs, but I'm not seeing ways for him to be in another season. Unless he does some kind of face-turn.

Come on, these producers spend a season building up to "surprises" that the Internet nails within days of their set-up.
Alright, then name producers that haven't.

It's the internet. You have tens of people per show attempting to create, in a SIMPSONS DID IT world of media where it's all been done before somewhere, versus hundreds (if not more) of fuckin' nerds on the internet dissecting it, analyzing it, and taking wild flailing stabs at predicting it.

Nah everyone said it was mirror Lorca.

I give it a 9. I have no problem that Lorca's from the Mirror Universe. I enjoy the show independent of online speculation. More thoughts later, but the episode hit all the right notes. At least for me.

It's too short but, when I rewatch in the future, it'll be with other episodes anyway, so it doesn't matter.

Does that mean Jason Issacs is not going to be in season 2? Who’s going to be the captain?
Please for all that is holy not make it Michael, or Saru.
That is the catch I see with this direction. Michael being captain is going to require some finagling that will make the people that ranted about Kelvin!Kirk go ballistic, and Saru's learning but he doesn't have what it takes yet.

Again, you're making excuses for these hacks repeatedly bungling their reveals.

Sorkin, Kelly, Whedon are three writers who come quickly to mind who are able to take something in exactly the direction the audience doesn't expect. It's not the preposterously challenging thing you're pretending - just takes a talented writer and a little discipline from the producers.

Maybe they just underestimate their viewers. Many things about the show suggest as much.
