Series 11 News & Spoilers

Chibnall's doing a fantastic job so far of keeping information locked down, so not sure how much activity this thead will see but we do now have multiple confirmations that the cast and crew have arrived in Cape Town, South Africa this week where they're going to be shooting for the rest of January.

Nicer than Cardiff in Winter certainly!

 

Too bad, if they'd come to Durban instead I could try and get some sneak peeks at the shooting.

 

Someone finally got a snap of them shooting in Cape Town. Not very exciting but better than nothing.

We definitely seem to have a story set in the past. Forgive my ignorance, is that care a 1960's model? If so, it could help support the rumoured season plot.

Unless they're doing location shooting for a couple of different episodes, you'd think it would have made more sense to go to the States instead.

Edit: Just realised that the sign in the first photo says "We cater to white trade only". Is that set dressing or do they still have those in South Africa today?

 

Set dressing- that's a very 50s car, so if it's set in the South...

 

We're a backwards country, but we're not that backwards anymore.

 

Just watch South Africa double as late 50's Cuba.

 

If nothing else, I'm glad to see there'll be some good car porn in the next series

 

Whenever I see or hear the term "car porn," I immediately think of that scene in Southland Tales.

 

"car porn"...gives me a mental image of somebody sticking his willy into an exhaust pipe...

 

At last, the Dr fixes the chameleon circuit and the Tardis changes into the period equivalent car which the Dr drives about in throughout thier adventures, works for me.

 

Pretty much the same thing.

So, we're back to having historical celebrities, are we?

 

Dare I hope for a pure historical?

 

I'd hope so, largely because I'm struggling to think of a way of working aliens and/or monsters into the story of Rosa Parks and the Montgomery Bus Boycott.

 

The whole thing is lined with pitfalls, especially if there's any hint at all of the Doctor inspiring her actions.
