Discovery's costume designer, Gersha Phillips received a nomination from the Costume Designers Guild.

The other nominees are Black Mirror (for the USS Callister episode), Game of Thrones, Once Upon a Time, and Sleepy Hollow.

Unless I've missed something, I believe this is one of Discovery's first award nominations.

The work on the torchbearer suit along deserves some kind of award.

No way does "Discovery" deserve the nomination but neither does Once Upon a Time and Sleepy Hollow. Those 3 spots should have gone to Orville,The Tick and Legion.

The Orville, for taking Pike's uniform from Star Trek Into Darkness and adding bright colours?

    Legion for it's endless Redbubble.com t-shirts?

And I say this as a fan of both shows.

I like the Tick but their costumes were not at all that great. The Tick's suit even changes from the pilot to the rest of the season (which is good. the first version is pretty bad) and it's not really as good a suit as the Fox version.

I think the nomination is well deserved. A lot of thought and craftsmanship went into the costume design. Just read on the Frakes thread that Burnham's Mirror armor was designed to be fully functional (rather than just for show), so she could remove it normally for the intimate quarters scene with Tyler. That's pretty cool.

Some examples of Discovery's excellent costumes:
