Novelverse "facts" you've taken into your head-canon

Animal behaviorists today actually do have a pretty good understanding of the meanings of canine and feline vocalizations and body language. But it's not on the same order of complexity as an actual language, with words and syntax and so forth.

You've done your research good sir :). This is why I love your work in Star Trek novels.

Do you know why Miranda Kadohata was written out of the Star Trek novels? I thought she was an awesome character who presented the struggles of having family not living aboard a starship very well, particularly with the aftermath of the Borg invasion (notably her decision to warn her husband in not so subtle terms to flee their homeworld in case the Collective made it as far as Cestus III).

Unfortunately, neither I nor my dad understand cat nearly as well as the two little furry people who live with us understand English. And unfortunately, neither of them can squeak a word of English.

I would agree with "borgboy" on that. Although I question the interpretation of a triploid genome and a "neuter" zhen.

And of course, I accept an awful lot of stuff that Mr. Goodman's works contradict.

The funny thing is I can't see Andorians as four gendered. Never have been, never will. Not against multigender species as a whole. But can't accept Andorians as such (unless the tv series eventually goes with it then I will accept it).

What's the matter with it in your mind?
I think it's a perfectly logical interpretation of Data's line about them marrying in groups of four, and a lot more interesting than just being two pairs of two genders.

I was just researching DS9’s pilot last night when I got to the scene where the monk comes out of the temple and invites Sisko in and Sisko says “Another Time, perhaps”, and I was thinking that the monk was just following what future Sisko had told him. That’s future Sisko from the Millenium trilogy.

The Borg decided the Federation was too big a threat to ignore or send small assimilation forces after and invaded with the intent of destroying the federation, Klingon empire, and Romulan star empire and then assimilating the rest of the alpha and beta quadrants in 2381.

Destiny is a part of my headcanon.

As far as I'm concerned, the Destiny-continuity novels are part of my headcanon.

In particular, the Federation's constitutional arrangements as outlined in A Time for War, A Time for Peace; Articles of the Federation; and the Rise of the Federation novels are part of my headcanon. (Except that I accept the reference to the Federation Supreme Court in "Dr. Bashir, I Presume?" as overriding the Federation Judiciary Council established in Articles.)

Also, I accept the novels' takes on the Breen, the Andorians, and the Tzenkethi.

Can we please try to keep this thread spoiler-free for those of us who haven't started watching Discovery yet? It's bad enough that I
already know the MU is going to be involved at some point
. I don't want to be spoiled on further things about the show when it has nothing to do with the topic of this thread.

A fair request.

And actually - this entire discussion should be in the Discovery vs. the Novels thread - so I'm shifting it. (Dayton's comment about Requiem for a Martian wasn't out of nowhere as it is now, but I like the randomness of leaving it here - since it is on topic :) )

But please do be careful of spoilers when bringing Discovery into other threads.

@JonnyQuest037 I've edited your post to put spoiler code around the part that was previously discussed in this thread, just in case you are able to save someone else from having this information revealed.

STD is involved with the Marvel Universe?
Now I’ve got an image of instead of the Milano running into Thor, it’s the Discovery. :)

I would think the STD novel is canon, but there they at least tried to keep it era appropriate unlike the tv show.
