Germany exclusive Star Trek trilogy "Prometheus" coming in 2016

The cover was in part inspired by "Star Trek VI". I really love the scene where the Enterprise-A meets the Kronos One. "Never been this close ..." While the position of the ships in space differs it's the mood that matters. Here are the Klingons. They should be allies - but are they? (Nice "easter egg": The IKS Bortas was once the flagship of the Klingon chancellor, like the Kronos One.)

 

I prefer to think that "Kronos One" is a callsign and the ship actually has its own "IKS" name, like the Bortas, the Negh'Var, or the Sword of Kahless.

 

I understand that the Star Trek Prometheus trilogy wraps up in 2018 and is based on the German-first trilogy from last year. Are there plans for more Prometheus after the trilogy or is this just a straight up translation effort and then done?

Also, I noticed my version of the book said it was from Titan Books not Pocket Books. Is that the German company where the trilogy first originated or a new imprint?

 

Currently it seems like there won't be any more Prometheus books.

The trilogy was originally published by CrossCult in Germany, Titan Books acquired the rights to publish a translated version.

 

A German publisher who translate the Pocket novels got a special license to publish the trilogy to celebrate Trek’s 50th.

Rough translations were done for CBS to approve - as they do for the Pocket novels.

Titan picked up the rights to reprint these English translations which were edited by Keith R A DeCandido.

 

I wonder if that is contingent on sales in North America?

Success is always an incentive for publishing houses to think about more books. Although I must add that this project was very expensive for Cross Cult, because not only did they have to pay the authors (Christian and me) and the licensing fee to CBS (which they continue to pay with every sold book), but also the translation and the editing of the translation. Markus Rohde of Cross Cult once told me that it is extremely difficult for Cross Cult to make any real profit with this trilogy. It was mostly a matter of the heart for them. (And a "Thank you!" gift for German fans.)

 

I'd have thought the cost of this would have gone to Titan? Or are they shared?
