Yes, totally, which is one reason why I always wished the ENT hero ship was a (maybe slightly updated )Daedelus class ship.
It would have been a nice respectful nod back to one of the original TOS concept sketches. And look a bit like a Starship/Connie class precursor.

They wanted to use the Daedalus class but CBS felt the hero ship needed to have a saucer to keep it 'on brand' with Star Trek.

Over the years I have often thought about giving a 3D built of the design a try. But I think you really nailed it. For us Paleo-trekkies, these TAS ships were the only non-Enterprise Federation ships around for years. So they were naturally accepted by (many of) us and influenced us. I've always liked them more than the TOS-movie or TNG ships.

Of the TAS ships, only the Robot Cargo ship has sort of been made into an Eaglemoss model since it received a head to appear as Antares in the "remastered" version of "Charlie X." If only Huron and Bonaventure had been so useful.

The Bonaventure is one of the options on the current poll Eaglemoss is running for bonus ships and the TAS Bonaventure is one of the ships (as is the Ships of the Line Bonaventure). But tweeting Ben probably wouldn't hurt!

I still like the revisionist idea that the Constellation was the same class as the Bonaventure. Would explain the lower NCC number if the ship was actually a predecessor class to the Enterprise.

The constellation class was in service in the 2280s wasn’t it? Something like 10 years after the motion picture. And the Bonaventure‘s registry number is 10281NCC and while flipped it still seems like it’s a larger number than the 1701 unless we retcon it to be 102 space 81 ( which it sort of looks like on the hull)

Or are you talking about that one image that was in the ships of the line calendar that we never see again?

Going slightly off topic, but.........

In my head canon I have always assumed that the low NCC No Starship/Connie class ships are so named in honour of celebrated ships from earlier times. So "our" 1017 Constellation was named (and NCC numbered) after an originally famous Daedelus or Baton Rouge (or Bonaventure ?) etc class ship from the past. Much like the "bloody" A, B,C etc of the Enterprise.

That's sort of what we posited in the podcast. If we put the Bonaventure at the very beginning of the Federation this is the first time all these races have worked together. Some read in different directions, (up and down, left to right, right to left) have different grammatical structures, different ways of classifying data, etc. So, maybe there are a handful of the early UFP ships that have the number first followed by the NCC. I think it gives the world flavor and a touch of realism.

ENT says Humanity accomplish little (warp drive wise) for several decades following Cochrane first flight, while the preceding Trek series suggest there was more and it was fairly quick.

So, maybe there are a handful of the early UFP ships that have the number first followed by the NCC. I think it gives the world flavor and a touch of realism.

So Human starship in federation service accommodated their new allies by switching around their registration numbers.

Still begs the question what NCC actually means.
