Well, Alexander should serve as liaison between the Klingons and the Federation, so he was needed on the Bortas first to keep Kromm in check, who was not so happy to work with a Federation captain to "preserve the peace". (Also the "Aventine" was desperately needed by John Jackson Miller's novel "Takedown". )

And yes Spock doesn't leave the prime universe before 2387.

So we’re close to his departure. I wonder if we’ll get a novel about it since the comic story, countdown clashes with the novel canon. It would also be inter sting to get more information about this Red Matter. Seems like a very powerful substance to come out of no where with no explanation.

 

As far as I heard Pocket books is going to ignore this event and everything that is shown in the "Countdown" comics. To be honest I found some of the ideas presented there very intriguing and the Hobus fallout could stir up the Galaxy quite a bit. But we will see. At the moment the novels take place around late 2386 so we are getting close to these events.

 

Actually they announce back during one of the cons that the new contract will include stuff from the Kelvin movies.

 

They don’t have to tell stories from that universe, just acknowledge the events that lead to Spock and Nero’s crossing.
I will probably only read a JJVerse novel if it crosses over with the Prime.

It doesn't work like that. The legalities that have prevented Pocket from covering material from the Abrams movies apply to anything established in the movies, regardless which universe it was set in. Since the destruction of Romulus and Spock and Nero's mysterious disappearance (and hell, the existence of Nero) are from an Abrams movie, Pocket Books was forbidden from acknowledging them. And since that stuff was part of the official canon as approved of by CBS, that meant Pocket couldn't ignore it either. The new contract currently being negotiated will hopefully allow Pocket Books to cover material from the Abrams movies.

I use an inventory device at work in a similar manner.

 

Sounds similar with Big Finish with Doctor Who not allowing to use/reference any NuWho material. That has since been rectified.

 

I started reading this novel. I really like Captain Richard Adams and the Prometheus crew and the mystery in the Lambetta area of space is intriguing.

 

Have all three parts of this trilogy been confirmed for paperback translations to English? I want to try this, but I hate to read part 1 and then find out the rest won't be translated.

 

Part 2 is in May and 3 in November 2018.

I just finished reading Prometheus book 1 Fire with Fire this morning. This was a fantastic story and I look forward to getting the last 2 books in this series!

 

I voted Outstanding. Found it really well written and felt I was familiar with the crew after a few paragraphs. Normally I am struggling to remember a lot of new names in the novels, and who does what, but not this time. Story was really compelling too and cannot wait for books 2 and 3.

 

In this novel, Sarita Carson summarizes the events of DS9 - "By Inferno's Light" as "a Founder tried to blow up Bajor's sun". She never says "B'hava'el" (which is a name I rather like), and I assume the passage is essentially unchanged from the original German grammar. Is this just the result of real-life inertia because canon stories never gave the Bajoran star a name, rather the little-known name coming from ancillary media?

 

To be honest, there are two answers.

A: I would think most people just call their home star "sun" and not by some scientific name that appears in star charts. At least I don't say: "Sol is shining, let's go for a walk."

B: I just didn't think of it. I researched the "protomatter, trilithium and tekasite" thing on Memory Alpha and it just stated "Bajor's sun". As did the DS9 episode I watched too. So while writing this moment it just didn't occurred to me to call the star B'hava'el (although I know the name of course). Which was fortunate I think because of A.

Believe it or not - I'm actually a "nerd" who likes hiking (at least for two or three hours on a reasonable walkable trail ).
