We already know the answer to that, so just run with the bizarreness.

It's called "STAR TREK IV" which pretty much seals that it wasn't from the TMP/TWOK era, unless Gene wrote treatments for multiple sequels to I or II, which seems highly unlikely.

It could have been the 4th story idea for an earlier movie.... but the wording does imply "Flashback" at the beginning. Going from the familiar status quo once again.

Unlikely. You don't put a Roman numeral on a title like that to means idea #.

I really can't disagree with any of this. What a batshit crazy story idea.

I seem to recall Harve Bennett stating that Roddenberry sent them the JFK outline a couple times, hoping they would make it. I wonder if he sent this as well and Bennett just assumed it was the JFK plotline without looking at it. Agree with others here, not movie material.

I like to think it still ends with Spock assassinating JFK and that somehow resetting the timeline:lol:

I'd rather they'd used this as a basis for Star Trek V than what we actually got. I actually want to know how this ends.

A good writer and director could take that treatment and make a good movie out of it. Not necessarily a good Star Trek movie but there's at least a nugget of potential.

I'm really curious what the story's ending was (if there ever was one).

The thing is, Roddenberry was surprised when other Paramount executives told him that his story ideas sucked. What the hell was wrong with him?

Spent to much time with adoring fans who no doubt never said anything bad about him and felt he was the most important person working on Trek.

I wonder which fans, as most people I’ve talked to feel that while Roddenberry could turn a good script into a great one, he could also turn a good script into a bad one.

I doubt they said those things though at conventions and it's not like he could go on the internet and read all the nagative comments. If he ever got hate mail his people might have protected him from it.

I doubt this was written by GR. I mean where is JFK and Spock on the Grassy Knoll. ;)

I got admit I haven't read it as of yet. Does the script happen to mention, love instructors?
