Really a nice model. I'm not a fan of the Bonavendure, from TAS, though in my mind as someone else mentioned it is a Starfleet ship and therefore not the same as the C1-21 Bonaventure, its namesake, but this is a big improvement from the TAS treatment it got.

Is the Bonaventure really supposed to be so small? I just assumed it was the same size as the Enterprise. If it really is that much smaller, I suppose it's not quite so anachronistic. The Constitution could even have been designed as a tribute (albeit much larger), like a vintage Corvette or something.

Interesting, though, that there was so much more uproar over the "Akiraprise" from ENT than the Bonnie ever caused... ;)

GeekFilter's estimated length is about the same as I've come up with. Constitution/Enterprise is long because of its long, rear-mounted nacelles and horizontally wide primary hull. Bonaventure's nacelles are shorter and its primary hull is narrower; they both make the complete ship shorter than Constitution/Enterprise.

Shame that the show wasn't filmed and that John Colicos couldn't have returned as Kor in the episode! Wonder why he didn't return to do the voice in the cartoon like other actors did?

They had a very limited budget for voice actors

And even less space to list them at the end!

Beautiful rendition of a nifty ship!

I’d love it if we got it in the Eaglemoss collection.

To me it looked like a Constituition starship squashed up a bit! It was obviously made before people started to theorize the look of older starships of the Federation like the sphere and log look of the Daedalus!

I agree. But I also think it looks like a Daedelus with a flattened sphere, with one deck expanded, and a more geometrically shaped secondary hull. All in all an evolutionary step on the way to the Starship/Connie class.

The Daedalus was actually based on an early design sketch for the Enterprise, which was later repurposed as an earlier class of ship.

That ship's ugly enough to be an ancestor of the Excelsior!

And the script and storyboard both say it's smaller than the Enterprise. I figure just because a ship is more advanced it doesn't mean it has to be larger (eg. The Defiant in DS9) . Ships are purposed built. This could have been more of a frigate.

I though you might get a kick out of the image we made for Trek.fm (tweaked the Eaglemoss concept model to make it more Hallmark!)

Yes, totally, which is one reason why I always wished the ENT hero ship was a (maybe slightly updated )Daedelus class ship.
It would have been a nice respectful nod back to one of the original TOS concept sketches. And look a bit like a Starship/Connie class precursor.

Told to combine the basic Daedelus class configuration with his own talented imagination, Doug Drexler's version would have been fantastic.
