Luke vs Snoke!

No spoilers, just speculating. Watching Return of the Jedi, and getting pumped. Who wants to see a final battle between Luke and Snoke? It might not be decisive (see Empire Strikes Back), but it will feel good to watch. Who's with me?

So in case anybody is curious...
There was no Luke vs. Snoke.

I smell a misdirection. There's no way they'd just let that drop so abruptly. There's got to be more to it in Episode IX.
Nah, he's dead. His death is logical because it allows Kylo Ren to move to forefront as the primary villain.

And he's not even the first cackling and overconfident villain with Force lightning powers who died like a punk after two films without any back story. ;)

It's almost like some critics have never seen Star Wars before...

Actually, part of what I see is the expectation of Star Wars leading to a lot of disappointment, rather than what the films are, warts an all. That there is an appreciation of Darth Vader's tragedy largely because of ROTJ and the revelation of Anakin's backstory in more depth. that the Phantom Menace, for all it's faults, was a break from the norm. There is so much that has come with Star Wars history, so much stories, that the expectations of each subsequent movie get raised substantially while leaving behind the changes that were made.

Until 1997, that is - LOL!! Palpatine was a saving grace but had the prequels not been made, and given the original trilogy's not being a trilogy since EP IV wasn't originally an episode with a chapter title and in the first sequel we have two fraternal twins french kissing and with the only thing missing being a studio audience chanting the name "Jerry!", I will say "Sustained!" regarding the electric Emperor (played by two different actors V and VI) being killed like a punk with no backstory.
