"Ed and Kelly seriously reconsider getting back together. However, while Kelly is on a mission with Isaac and Gordon to investigate the origins of an uncharted star, they suddenly crash-land on a planet from another universe. Kelly then makes a decision with unforeseen long-term consequences for the planet, putting Ed in a difficult position."

Yeah, they moved it.

They should have taken the chance to make fun of themselves:

"Next week on the new season finale since the actual season finale was moved to season two. Holy Hell -- we got a second season! Anyway, next week on 'The Orville'..."

That fact that to promos are working so hard to make us think someone will die, just make me think nobody will. It seems like the more they promote someone maybe dying, then the less like it is that it will actually happen.

Was this one meant to be aired earlier? I see LaMarr is in his navigator's seat and not where he was promoted to.

Probably. John Debney was incorrectly listed as the composer on IMDb for the last episode (the composer was Andrew Cottee) and on this one, so they were probably switched around. Not the first time I've had to correct or add missing credits to episodes on IMDb for the series.

He could be serving that position in times where they need a good navigator (he was their top guy.) That or, er, they changed that console to the engineering station like in TNG when they added the engineering station to the back row of terminals.

He was seated in the navigators chair at the end of last weeks episode, after his promotion, as well.

You're right.
The scene I'm thinking of had to have been earlier. It was after his promotion though. I remember commenting on the fact that he shouldn't really be there.
.ETA: I went back and looked at my dvr recording. It looks like what I was remembering was the promo for tonight's episode & not a scene from last week.
It did come at the end though.:D

It's a shame they out for the season on a low.

Still, one dud out of twelve is a better ratio than any comparable show I've seen.

I love the show. It hard touching moments, laugh out loud moments, great planet shoots, and great score. It screamed the spirit of Star Trek. Gene would be proud.

I think this episode was solid, I'd probably give it an A- or so. I think all of the various elements of it worked, the humor, drama, the premise the allegory it was going for and so forth. Nicely done. I have questions though about some aspects of it, but I'll address them later. To compare it to "Who Watches the Watchers?" I think this one came across a bit better in showing the ramifications of societal contamination, deities, and the evolution of a religion over several millennium. It's interesting though that, apparently, their further cultural contamination didn't further damage/jeopardize their careers. But, I guess we really don't know how their "Prime Directive" works but it seems there is something of one when it comes to highly primitive cultures.

I don't see this going out on a low, I see it going out on something of a high, if not just level. It held my interest and made me reflect and think. (For a moment when the planet reemerged for the final time I had thought that maybe Issac had done something Bog-like to them given his indifference or regarding of humanity. I guess this shows how "good" he is and his general intentions and the like that he was able to stay aside and silent for 700 years and not take over the planet or something of the sort.

Again. Good and solid.
