I am curious about this comic. Does it overly explain things that didn't need that in the first place, like IDW did with Nero's ship and NuKhan's backstory? Kor
We'll know in two days-- the first issue hasn't come out yet! Preview is at https://www.cbr.com/exclusive-star-trek-discovery-1/
I have to admit, some of the more serious efforts on this thread have almost convinced me that I could stomach the new "Klingons", if they just had hair. It would be a stretch, but I think I could do it. With a good, stiff drink. A couple of drinks...
DSC Klingons actually have ridges going all the way to the back of their necks. So hair in the comic is on top of the ridges.
Nice! Now, if we would see some hairy klingons on Discovery...? BTW who made this comic? Are the writers of Dicovery involved? Could this be, like, the very first sign they took the fan backlash about klingons to heart and... this be our first hint that they will change them? Make klingons klingons again! (I still find it kind of ironic, that the very first time the klingons appear to have an actual arc about "remaining klingon", the producers decided to reboot the race entirely and purge them of EVERY iconic klingon characteristic. I still don't get the intent behind this)
Kirsten Beyer is one of the writers on the comic. I wouldn't say every. They still act like Klingons.
There were more then that. And Ii you go by the ratings poll in the thread on this board, the mid-season finale was the best one.
You're right! I should have specified I meant visually. Actingwise there are a few disparities as well (burying their dead vs. "just an empty shell"), but those could be accounted for cultural diversitiy/T'Kuvma's guys clearly being a counter-culture religious fanatics cult. That being said, I still found the portrayal of klingons both in ENT and TOS (which bookend DIS) much more believable and congruent. I think the klingon war arc (the main story, really) is my main gripe with the series so far. Luckily that's supposed to be just a one-season arc, and the basics (characters and actors) work just fine.
Tell me with a straight face that you would know Tiny Lister's character in ENT and Koloth in Tribbles were the same species if it weren't specified.
Well, once you include ENT's "Divergence"/"Affliction" and the TOS' movies (from TMP to Undiscovered country): Holy fuck yes! Especially after DS9's Tribble episode. (But then again: I'm the type of people that thinks the DIS' klingons would also look perfectly fine as klingons if they only ever added facial hair)
