Question about old Star Trek comic's?

My question is all of the older comics sold in those volume editions. Not sure if that is the right name for those things. Basically it has maybe 3 of the comic book issues in one volume. I've always wanted to go back and read the comic's I use to read but buying each comic seems expensive. Also does each comic run in these kind of forms. I know for example I would like to read those old DS9 comic's that had John Tesh in one episode. Also something more unique that might have been forgotten like the "Early Voyages" comics about Pike and his crew or "Starfleet Academy" that was about some cadets.

Those omnibus editions usually have about six issues, or enough to make a story arc. But there was no rhyme nor reason as to which issues of Gold Key, Marvel, DC, Malibu, Wildstorm or Marvel/Paramount comics got the omnibus treatment, and some issues have appeared in multiple omnibuses over the years. Whatever publishers thought might sell well.

There was a DVD-Rom in 2008 - of all the old single issues - although the two "X-Men" crossovers and a Klingon language edition of a "Starfleet Academy" issue were not incuded. I've heard it's not too hard to track down.

Browsing Mark Martinez's online resource is a good way to see what's out there.

IDW did an omnibus of Marvel/Paramount's "Early Voyages" (17 issues in one volume), but keep in mind, that comic was halted midway through its last story arc.

Yep I recall "Early Voyages" ending early. I think they were about to start something with the Klingons. As for the DVD-Rom would that run on a blu-ray? Also how exactly does that work on a tv? Does one page of a comic fill the entire screen of your tv? Are they hard to read?

The DVD would run on a computer, as the comics are in PDF. If you have your PC connected to your TV by HDMI, you could view to comics on your TV.

What is PDF?

Portable Document File: "a file format for capturing and sending electronic documents in exactly the intended format." ie., so the images, borders and text always appear exactly as intended, no matter which device is used, or how large the browser is.

It's not just the single issues, it also includes all of the trades too.
I also recently discovered that the PDFs can be copied off the disc, so if you have a tablet or smartphone you be able to put them on there and read them that way.
