2018 Releases

Pocket hasn't always published twelve new novels a year. Just looking over this decade alone, there was no new novel scheduled for January 2010, March 2011, or January 2012. The difference is those months had reprints fill the MMPB slot, whereas this year we're just getting nothing on the gap months.

And once upon a time, there were two MMPB's out each month as well as more Trades and even Hardbacks. There is a real possibility that the line might be reduced further to allow better quality and allow them to be more of an "event"

Totally, as it is Trek actually publishes significantly more novels per year than most other tie-in franchises, which typically only do around six novels per year, if that.

But Star Trek is different from other tie-in franchises.

There are six tv series plus the spin-off series that Pocket have created.

We rarely get more than one or two novels based on each series every year.

Has the Voyager novel To Lose the Earth been conformed by Pocket or is it just something that Kirsten Beyer has talked about.

I believe it's confirmed. It is listed on Memory Alpha as a future release. They usually only post things that are confirmed. There's not much information about it, no synopsis yet. I'm not sure if she's in the midst of writing it, is it near done, or has she started it yet?

Yeah, but Star Trek only just became active again after a dozen year hiatus. Franchises which are active tend to get more activity than ones which aren't.

Considering Kirsten Beyer only just handed in her manuscript for Architects of Infinity a week or so ago, any work done for To Lose the Earth is very early stages, if she's even started it at all.

Last thing we heard was that the outline had been approved (albeit that was in May 2016):

What I can tell you is that this changes nothing about my commitment to continue writing novels. Two have been announced...Architects of Infinity and To Lose the Earth. Both of them have completed and approved outlines so all that remains is for me to finish the manuscripts. Yes, this is the longest part of the process for me, but they will get done. They are going to take a little longer than they might have otherwise, and for that I truly apologize. I know that's not what you want to hear. My editors are being amazing and have given me the time I will need to continue creating the same level of stories you have enjoyed all these years. I am writing as fast as it can. Just not as fast as I used to.

So don't worry. I have no intention of abandoning the work that got me here. It's just going to take a little longer for me to figure out how to balance everything on my plate. Great problems to have, of course. Just challenging.

So, she isn't starting from scratch on it, if nothing else.

NHS, the Doctor, the pharmacy...

The list goes on.

I am fully aware.

My meaning (if I need to explain myself) is that ALL, not most communications from your local government and the Welsh Assembly need to written in Welsh and English.

And I wonder how much taxpayers money is used doing it when only a small minority actually speak Welsh.
