Why is the acting in STD so WOODEN?

I cite this video as an example - specifically, the scene near the beginning of the video where Lorca and Mister Satan or whatever his name is (I still can't make out the engineer's name clearly; it's like the actors slur it whenever they say it) are hollering at each other about the spore drive not working:

The dialog feels forced and awkward; the acting barely above the caliber of a fan video. Was this done intentionally to make the characters seem "relatable?" Or is it an homage to Enterprise, which I've been reminded by a fellow forum-dweller followed a similar acting template?

You cannot expect this acting to be at film level where it has a time limit and where the timing and delivery of acting has to be utter polished. STD is going in a divergence from previous series. I like STD's style compared to previous series, faster pace >> gung ho style, with probably plot twists in the future that may possibly raise the "caliber."

Sonequa; My quibble with STD is her name. Totally weird is the operative word. She was raised on Vulcan and a appropriate female name would be more of way to distinguish her unique individuation. Or amI missing some precept about Vulcan's naming non-Vulcan females

Sarek and Amanda didn't name Burnham, her Human parents did. Sarek and Amanda just adopted her.

She already had a name.

They talk a lot about it but in practice is a much different story, especially if they stand to gain something from it.

Yep, after all nothing is more honourable to than victory. The dead can't argue whether they were killed honourable or not.
