I am really enjoying the planet side stuff. I'm almost dissapointed when the action goes to DSC.

A perfect cloaking screen was theoretical IIRC.

The one in this show isn’t perfect

He says nothing about "perfect"...

Balance of Terror said:
SPOCK: Invisibility is theoretically possible, Captain, with selective bending of light. But the power cost is enormous. They may have solved that problem.

Hmm. The character moments were more interesting than the plot this week.
Klingon storyline went nowhere, as usual.
The planet plot was a nice twist on a landing party story.
The rest is just more setup. The "Next Time" trailer has my attention though!

Not a lot.

Dead admiral (seemed likely), revenge (which we knew was coming; Kor already fucked up everything for T'Kuvma's people) and L'Rell now most likely getting the shit beat out of her by Kor's men. Not much to go on there.

Gave it a 7. Solid albeit somewhat predictable away team to planet with alien story.
Enjoyable though, and I really hope we get a lot more strange new worlds.

Discovery 1x08 Si Vis Pacem, Para Bellum
What I noticed -

- again, no teaser just a recap of previous events
- starship Gagarin (sp?), what class? looks weirdly familiar
- two other ships destroyed - Hoover & another
- so good to be back on a strange new world, it's very blue
- Kelpians can run 80 kph
- strange wispy blue energy beings
- L'Rell scarred face and neck
- the away team stuff reminds heavily of TOS/TNG away teams
- Cornwall still alive & Stamets is not well
- L'Rell wants to defect, get onto Discovery
- reminded of the Enterprise episode where they camp out, weird planet
- "The Pahvans"
- I don't trust L'rell. Or Ash Tyler.
- love the giant Pahvan crystal transmitter
- Saru has serious issues
- L'Rell is now an interrogator for House Kor, gets face painted
- more TOS sounds on the bridge
- Pahvans called the Klingons to Pahvo which also feels very TOS to me, an alien race
manipulating humans & Klingons

This almost seems like a prequel to Errand of Mercy.
I had the same thought. The Pahvans don't seem to be quite as far along the road to enlightenment as the Organians but similar!

Kelpians can run 80 kph
Possible Special Effect Failure in the presentation of that. Super speed is apparently really hard to depict among humanoid characters when it's not Flash-esque ludicrous speed.
