The least disliked episode of TNG - Season Seven

This is a game that we play every few years or so, and it's generally a lot of fun, providing a chance to mentally revisit those episodes you may not have thought about in a while. With that in mind, why not play again?

So, here's the game. The basic idea is your standard elimination game. I'll provide a list of the episodes for each season and you need to eliminate your least favorite or the one you deem the 'worst.' Please provide an EXPLANATION for why you are eliminating your choice and be sure to copy and paste the list with your choice removed. Finally, leave at least 2 eliminations by other posters before you eliminate another episode, and at least 6 hours after your last vote.

No tactical voting! You cannot remove an episode because you feel they would threaten your preferred episode's chance to win.
Pretty simple. Enjoy! :bolian:

Sub Rosa is so out from the beginning. Do I even need to explain why?

I'm taking off Masks. It's just so bizarre that it often seems more like a parody of TNG than an actual episode of the show, and Data's antics make his behaviour in Generations seem tolerable by comparison.

Season 7 has some real stinkers and TNG did feel very tired by this time although there were some good shows like Lower Decks and The Pegasus. There are still a few season 7 shows I haven't watched all the way through...the Lwaxanna episode...life is too short as it is for that. Descent Part II is a pretty dreary affair from what I remember. I think it has some unnecessary torture scene with Geordi. For an episode that features rhe Borg and Lore, it should have been so much more memorable. It can go.

^ Very well.

And I'll make Genesis extinct. The scariest part about this episode was the science.

Good bye Dark Page. I hated it when they decided to give Lwaxana more character depth. She was always fairly annoying but you at least knew what to expect, and the episodes were entertaining. This just sucks.
Season 7 might be my least favorite season. There are so many episodes that I never need to see again and many that are merely okay

Season 7 just coasts along as mediocre. The ratio of standout episodes compared to all other seasons (including season 1!) is down.

Anyway, I am getting rid of "Force of Nature". Such an uneven episode - we spend so much time talking about Spot and Geordi's rivalry with that engineer that by the time the story (flawed as it is) starts proper, I just don't care.

I'm removing Firstborn, I was never a fan of klingon episodes and this one is probably one of the worst. Alexander trying to commit suicide via time travel ... that's bizarre. Worf realizing that it's okay for Alexander not to be a warrior should have been done another way or not at all, it's not worth spending an episode on.

Goodbye, "Journey's End". Bringing back the worst of Wesley (after Final Mission and The First Duty had used him much better), being a mere excuse to set up the Maquis for DS9/VOY and Chatokay's ridiculous "space native Americans" tribe, the misplaced superstitions, ... it's just very bad in every way. Reminds me of "TOS: Bread and Circuses", it's nearly that bad.

I have never been as down on season 7 as the consensus view -- there's a lot of underrated outings here. And of course "Sub Rosa", Trek's greatest achievement in comedy.

I'll toss Homeward. Sometimes TNG went a bit insane with it's interpretation of the Prime Directive, and this is the nadir.

Season seven has a few good episodes, but it's got a lot of disappointments, too. For all the hate the first two seasons of TNG get, I'd rather watch season two all the way through than season seven.

I'm dumping Attached. Typical last season type of episode. "We've been dancing around Picard and Dr. Crusher for so long, I guess we should write an episode about it." They were out of steam this year.

I think Inheritance is my least favourite of those up there... but a few others come close. Yeah, I'll stick with Inheritance, I think I had the VHS of that one one and Force of Nature. It was a very disappointing tape, neither were good episodes, but because I had it, I saw them a few too many times to become even more bored by them.

Interface is next to go. Just a generally pretty dull story, and the disappearance of Geordi's mother and his reaction to it could have been handled much better.

Eliminate Bloodlines. It seems like a forced attempt to explore Picard's sacrifice of not having a family for his career with a forced full circle style tie in out of obligation as the series wound to a close.

Getting rid of Emergence. Enterprise getting intelligent/sentient, having a "baby" and returning to normal as if nothing happened. Plus holodeck shenanigans. Bunch of nonsense.

I liked that one except for the technobabble BS. Technobabble sucked out the mystery and believability of so many 6th and 7th season eps. I did enjoy the B/C plot of Pha ntasms where the Enterprise can't make it to some Admiral conference and one of Geordi's engineers has a crush on him.
