"Cadet" Tilly, Kobayashi Maru, and the 25th Century

Maybe there is a weird time travel thing going on. One of her first lines when meeting Burnham was "Here’s something not a lot of people know about me: I’m going to be a Captain someday." Seems like a rather odd thing to say, considering a bunch of cadets in Starfleet probably have the same goal.
True. Of course, it *could* also just be a statement of determination that she IS going to get there despite her special needs issues, and of awareness that a lot of people have thought that they would mean she wouldn't get far.

That is what it means. Her insignia is that of a fourth-year cadet specializing in engineering or ship's services.

I take it to mean people don't see her as Captain material.
Not sure allergies are the type of thing that stops you from being a Captain.

Maybe Tilly is actually just a 32 year old cadet, due to her issues. Or maybe she's legally 22, but physically 32, due to a relativistic accident like what happened to Yeoman Rand in TOS.

Not sure allergies are the only issue she has, either.

Point remains. Zoe was 32 playing a 19-22 year old. Remember, we first meet Uhura at the bar it's three years before she graduates.

Unless she's a super-genius she didn't enter the academy at 16. The Academy is basically a four year college, not a prep school. I'm guessing the four bars on her pin means she's fourth year.

Tily is a super genius.

Said so in episode three.

Discovery conscripted the kid early because of her crazy math skills.

Yes, yes, Jolene played a woman in her late 60s.

It's called acting!

What else is there? A bit of awkwardness? Over eagerness?

We don't know. But since I doubt an allergy to particular bedding would warrant her being quartered alone, I have to think there's something else, too.

For context, I have an allergy to down. It would make me break out to sleep on/under it, but it wouldn't keep someone on another bed in the same room from using it without causing me any issue.

Maybe Tilly experienced an element of time travel and got to meet Captain Tilly.

They turned the asshole classmate character's braces (in his mouth) into a radio antenna, and then pretended that they were God, telling him to do "things" to avoid being smote or going to hell.

If Cadet Tilly met Captain Tilly, it was probably a mean prank, no one had the balls to tell her was a prank after three years of constant conversations with her future self.

You know if she is 32, in scene, then she's going to be a hundred before she makes Captain. I can just see her now running around the deck with her walking frame.
